72Tele Must have had recorded at the least a EP of original music.

My choice is the V-Roys. No longer together but I was lucky enough to see them once and have all there records. Another choice would be The Henchmen. They have a new record out that has Jack White on most if not all of the tracks.

VoodooChileInWOnderl "Sky" a band produced by Jimmy Miller in 1969, first album with Bobby Keys and then "Sailor’s Delight" (1971) with Stu on keys. Both produced by Jimmy Miller. Not sure is they have more albums

Dan MySpace seems to be having problems but you can usually hear these bands at the links:

The Hangmen (if you like rock n roll you should like this band, quite an interesting history, blew 2 major label deals late 80's/early '90's before finally hitting their stride earlier this decade)

http://www.myspace.com/theehangmen

Grotus, an acquited taste for sure but one of my all time favorite bands, from the early '90's, fell apart as soon as they signed with the majors and yes it was the record company's fault

http://www.myspace.com/forgrotus

Beasts Of Bourbon, barely heard of outside of Australia, first album was recorded for $100, have been to known to cover Cocksucker Blues, Stones fans for sure

http://www.myspace.com/beastsofbourbon

The Neckbones
"Great American Southern Blues, Punk Rock n Roll band from Mississippi. Legendary for amazing, life altering, high energy live shows, as well as originally quirky but catchy songs, and their eccentric personality. "

Souls On Fire is a classic, was surprised to find out they are still around

http://www.myspace.com/theneckbones

Qui
with David Yow of the Jesus Lizard and Scratch Acid on vocals, signed to Mike Patton's Ipecac Records, great stuff

http://www.myspace.com/qui

The Humpers
Rock N Roll saviours from Long Beach, now defunct save for some reunion gigs earlier this year, stuff on the MySpace page changes as they take fan requests and put up bootlegs and stuff

http://www.myspace.com/theofficialhumpers

Sun Trash
Sean Wheeler of Throw Rag's latest project, currently on tour with the Supersuckers

http://www.myspace.com/suntrash

The Candy Snatchers
once covered Rip This Joint then held out the Stones as exceptions before insulting all of England, then all of humanity, I will have to find that and put it up. Saw them 6 times with the longest show being 28 minutes, always brutal with the shows sometimes ending with the singer or guitarist dripping blood

Not sure which one of these is official

http://www.myspace.com/thecandysnatchers

http://www.myspace.com/candysnatchers

Blitzspeer
around briefly in the early '90's, "Sonic Glory" is one of my favorite songs of the era, was lucky enough to see them twice

http://www.myspace.com/blitzspeer

Jonny Polonsky

stole the show in front of about ten people on the lolla '96 2nd stage

http://www.myspace.com/jonnypolonsky

Imperial Teen

total pop, great hooks and melodies, with Roddy Bottum formerly of Faith No More (though sounds nothing like them)

http://www.myspace.com/imperialteen

Chairs Of Perception with 2/3 of the Urinals who you probably also never heard of. Minimalist trio,

http://www.myspace.com/chairsofperception

The Wretched Ones

http://www.myspace.com/wretchedones

lots of drinking songs, not sure if they ever ventured far from the east coast, have one of their CDs

Throw Rag
Definitely one of the great bands of our time, have toured with the Supersuckers, Joan Jett, Motorhead and Rev Horton Heat as well as sold out club gigs around LA

Word!

Incredible album. Not limited to Earl Slick on guitar. The last song has Dick Dale, Slick, and Albert Lee all bashing away at once.

It's called "Life in the Food Chain" by the way. His second record, Amerika, isn't bad either.

And for them searching, it's the Flamin Groovies.

Just skimming the surface? The Deadly Snakes. Thee Headcoats. The Dream Syndicate. The Electric Chairs. The Downliner Sect. The Five Royales.

What band are you in again?

Hey Dan, I was also surprised to hear the Neckbones were touring again. Tyler Keith also started a pretty good band called The Preacher's Kids, though. But they aren't as good as the Neckbones were. Great Band. Lights Are Getting Dim is a classic record, too, and if I were a Stones fan, that's the one I'd start with.

Monkeytonkman Thunder!

Pretty well known over here in the Uk, at least with lovers of rock music, but pretty sure nobody has a clue who they are in the States.

Same probably goes for the Quireboys

Both cracking bands - go check em out!!!

I actually saw Thunder at the Rip Magazine 5th Anniversary Party in 1991 - following Pearl Jam! Weren't all that impressive but their recorded stuff is better. Totally dig the Quireboys.
