Topic: was Place Is Empty written for Gram? Return to archive
September 7th, 2005 02:52 PM
Saint Sway I cant help thinking that the country-tinged This Place Is Empty was written as an ode to Keith's lost buddy Gram Parsons.

anyone else think that?

I can definately hear Grams influence on that song. His spirit is very much alive on that one. And the lyrics could really be directed to Gram.

I can just picture Keith raising a glass to his old friend
"walk right on in, sit on down and make yourself at home."
"come on baby you're just like me you hate to be alone"

best song on the record IMO

What about the "bare your breasts" part? By the way, that is the best line of the song!!

just about every pic you see of Gram and Keith playing guitars together, either one or both of them are shirtless.

not that theres anything wrong with that.

I am woman, hear me roar, In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before, And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes, I am wise, But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price, But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong), I am invincible (invincible), I am woman.

Send In The Clowns / Frank Sinatra & Baby Steelie

Isn't it rich? Are we a pair -
Me here at last on the ground, you in mid air?
Send in the clowns.
Isn't it bliss? Don't you approve -
One who keeps tearing around, one who can't move?
Where are the clowns? Send in the clowns.
Just when I'd stopped opening doors
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours.
Making my entrance again with my usual flair.
Sure of my lines. No one is there.
Don't you love farce? My fault, I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want.
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns.
Don't bother, they're here.
Isn't it rich? Isn't it queer -
Losing my timing this late in my career?
Where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns.
Well, maybe next year. "

Bitch This is what I heard somewhere, it seems to make sense

The song is about his 2 daughters moving out of the house, their empty nest syndrome, and it's for his wife.

KEITH is so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
