A state trooper was hit by a van, a Rockland teen was thrown from a speeding car and 28 overzealous rock 'n' roll fans were hauled into police custody after Thursday night's Rolling Stones tour de force at Gillette Stadium.
But ticket scalpers - both in Foxboro and at last Tuesday's sold-out show at the FleetCenter - have been conspicuously absent from the rockers' inaugural world-tour performances.
That could change tomorrow night, when the Stones wedge their juggernaut into the 2,800-seat Orpheum Theater. The show, a rarity for the stadium-stuffing guitar gods, sold out in minutes. As of yesterday, no tickets were up for bid on eBay.
Tickets can still be had from out-of-state, online agencies, ranging from $780 apiece for a view from the balcony to $2,340 to sit in the orchestra section.
Stones fan Daniel Daly, 19, of Rockland, meanwhile, was in serious condition after the Chevy Caprice he was riding in flipped over on Interstate 95 in Norwood early yesterday morning, pinning him underneath. Daly was headed home from the Foxboro show. The driver, Brent Light, also 19 and of Rockland, was charged with speeding and having defective tires.
A state police motorcycle cop was also hospitalized early yesterday morning when a van cut him off and hit him on Route 1 outside Gillette Stadium. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, but the van's driver could face charges, state police said.
Foxboro police took 20 people into custody for public drunkenness and eight others on charges ranging from disorderly conduct to drug possession, but not scalping, Chief Edward O'Leary said.
``We always take the tack that if you're stuck with a ticket because your sister couldn't make it, we're not going to arrest you,'' O'Leary said. ``When the average ticket is $95, that's a bitter pill to swallow.''

Sir Stonesalot |
Wait a minute....I didn't think you were allowed into a Stones show unless you're drunk?
Now they're saying that it's agaist the rules?
That doesn't make sense. |
