Why I'll never forgive Mick Jagger

BRYAN Ferry still holds a grudge against Mick Jagger for stealing the heart of Jerry Hall 25 years
ago.
"There is no forgiveness," the Roxy Music front man, 56, told the Herald Sun before arriving in
Australia last night.
"But that's all I'll say on that subject. I never talk about it any more because it's not an issue to me.
"I always think it's disrespectful to my wife who I've been with for 20 years to talk about past
girlfriends."
Ferry's long-time friend, fashion designer Antony Price, said Ferry never wanted to grow old
disgracefully like Jagger.
"You'll never find him in London's Met Bar with a young blonde. He's been there, done that, and he's
grown up," Price said.
Ferry said the strongest memory of his year-long relationship with Hall was the cover of the 1975
Roxy Music album, Siren, which featured the Texan-born model dressed as a mermaid.
"It was the best cover we ever did," he said.
Ferry hired the then 18-year-old model for the cover shot. She soon moved into his Los Angeles
mansion, and even performed the high-pitched yelps on the 1976 Roxy Music classic Let's Stick
Together.
But Jagger intruded on their reign as the ultimate glamorous jet-setting couple.
There are two versions of what drove Hall into Jagger's arms.
Hall claimed an on-tour Ferry refused to call her from Australia because it was "too expensive".
Ferry claimed Hall became bored with him obsessively recording water sounds for a Roxy Music
album while holidaying in Mustique.
Jagger cruelly boasted later: "While Bryan was working on his album, I was working on his chick."
Hall also callously joked: "I could never be Jerry Ferry could I? It sounds ridiculous."
Said Ferry: "Far too much emphasis is placed on that relationship."
Ferry, born in a poor mining town, left art school to form Roxy Music in 1970. Its hits include
Virginia Plain, Do the Strand, Love Is the Drug, and Avalon/i>.
Roxy Music split in 1983 and Ferry pursued a successful solo career.
It regrouped late last year for a world tour with founding members Phil Manzanera (guitar) and Andy
Mackay (saxophone).
Roxy Music plays at Rod Laver Arena on Thursday. |
