LENNON VENOM
This is why you should never Email, write, or voice mail something you may later regret. Christie's is auctioning off a nasty letter written by John Lennon to Paul McCartney right after The Beatles broke up. In the letter (which is said to be full of spelling mistakes and swears), Lennon calls Linda McCartney a "middle-aged, cranky Beatles fan" and tells his badmate his marriage to her won't last. The letter is expected to fetch around 100-thousand dollars. But let's face it...if it was a letter from Paul about Yoko Ono, we'd all pay double that.

Apparently, according to Paul's live-in girlfriend at the time, there was a equally venomous note from Paul to John about Yoko.
It was the summer of '68, John had moved out of house (leaving wife behind) and moved into Paul's home with Yoko for summer (recording White Album).
He is said to have typed a note that said "You and your Japanese tart think you're such hot shit", put it in envelope and stuck it under John's door. IIRC.
John asked him about it, Paul said he "just did it on a lark".
Was reported in some TV movie, maybe Beatles' anthology (?), by Paul's now ex-girlfriend. |
