Apologies for lack of direct Stones content in this, but as I know a lot of you are Beatles fans too and may have been distressed at the recent news features on George Harrison's health, heres a post you may find of interest - however, whilst it makes you feel more confident about George Harrison,it doesnt do much for your faith in human nature..
..and this from a newspaper that sees itself as some champion of morality in the UK and which is generally seen in tabloid terms as a bit more high-brow than trash such as the Sun,Star and Mirror....

Apologies, hell, THANK YOU! That story has been reported in the US like it came from the Mount, and the hysteria has been so pronounced that George's songs, and the Beatles' songs that feature him, have taken a quantum leap in radio airplay. I was suspicious of it because I just could not imagine George Martin gossiping like some biddy over the backyard fence and betraying a confidence, but thought maybe I was just believing what I wanted to believe.
I hope this alerts more people to what goes on at these newspapers and broadcasts. I started my career in newspapers, and got out -- they twist and distort and censor every day, left and right, to attract readers, to placate advertisers, and to support political agendas. You truly can't believe anything you read at face value. But hell, we're Stones fans -- if we don't know about distorted press coverage, who does? |

The night of, or the day after that was published, Ringo played Casino Rama (Rama, ON). During his performance he was quick to assure the audience that the information was incorrect based on his close, personal connections with George.
