Jair You guys, who heard already the entire album, you think A Bigger Bang will be chosen the best rock and roll album of the year?

Before A Bigger Bang, my bet was Oasis Don't Believe the Truth.

Not being rude or butting in but
you didn't answer the original question (I want to know what you think as well). also, is ABB growing on you more? Although this album isn't an album that needs to grow. It very much a "like it as soon as you hear it" album.

As for me, I don't see why not. Youy sure as hell won't have me arguing it.

Ian

jcdesq The White Stripes album "Get Behind Me Satan," is head and shoulders above "A Bigger Bang." No album of the year discussion is serious without including it. "A Bigger Bang" will not win any awards, not even for any sentimental lifetime achievements.

Grammy's are more to do with luck and timing than anything else. It could be that its time for the Stones to be this year's 'old farts' who get 'honoured' just like Dylan & Santana did in recent years. Like any year, it all depends if they're "in" or not. (Norah Jones swept the board a couple of years ago, whereas Springsteen's "The Rising" got nominated in about 7-8 categories and lost out to her every time. Norah was obviously the 'in' act that year..)

It'd be nice to see the Stones win, but its hardly important and at this stage impossible to guess.

and yes, I've been into the new album big time since I heard the lo-fi version of it. Now I have the whole thing in high quality, I'm still listening to it as much and enjoying it even more, as obviously I'm hearing it in a way I hadnt heard previously. Aside from "NeoCon" (which I like a bit better hearing it properly although to me its still a throwaway) I enjoy all of it.

"Laugh I Nearly Died" remains my favourite, with "Biggest Mistake", "Dangerous Beauty" and "It Wont Take Long" are also magnificent. "Streets of Love", "look what the cat dragged in" and "Infamy" are Ok, but suffer by comparison to the rest of the record. They're still good enough songs by most standards. "Look what the cat dragged in" I think will grow on me, however... there isnt any song that I've actually gone off yet since I first heard it

Come on, Juma, then name other record as good as Oasis "Don't Believe The Truth.

You can doesn't like Lian, but he's pretty good!
Better than Mick, lately.
Btw, lately Mick sounds like a fag singing...

gimmekeef It will be my album of the year..Course its the only one I'll be buying....Any Grammies etc would be lame.C'mon Milly Vanilli got one!..If the fourbanger of Beggars/Sticky/Let It Bleed/Exile didnt win...then there should be no Grammies!
August 29th, 2005 04:44 PM
Blind Dog McGhee Tom Russell's cd is the best I've heard this year. It's so under the radar why even bother? As for mainstream stuff, the White Stripes is pretty good.

Me neither. Everybody knows, well, almost everybody - that "Don't believe..." is one of their best albuns.
Ok, Americans doesnt count, because they rather "serious" rock, but europeans bashing Oasis is really unbeliavable...

ASMB got a nomination for Best Pop Song and B2B for Best Rock Album. ABB will get this last one, at least the nomination.
