Stones Fans Don't Set New Record
Rolling Stones Tickets Sell Out In 26 Minutes

OMAHA, Neb. -- It wasn’t a record-setting day at Qwest Center Omaha as expected, but Rolling Stones tickets sold out in less than a half-hour.
The rock group opened its U.S. tour in Boston Sunday night. This week, the Stones added a stop at Qwest Center Omaha for Jan. 29, 2006. It took 26 minutes Saturday morning for those tickets to sell out, according to Qwest Center spokeswoman Dana Dyksterhuis.
Stones fan club members got a head start on buying tickets. Members had since Monday to start purchasing seats, and already Friday there were Omaha Stones tickets available on eBay. The Qwest Center seats 16,000 people, but officials were mum Friday on how many seats were left. Part of the deal to bring the band to town was to open ticket sales to club members and its sponsor before general tickets were sold.
Tickets for Paul McCartney's Qwest Center show sold out in 14 minutes in April, which set a new venue record. The old record was held by Kenny Chesney. The country star's tickets sold out in 16 minutes, and prompted organizers to schedule a second Omaha show.
McCartney will perform Beatles, Wings and solo hits in Omaha on Oct. 30.
As with McCartney’s performance, fans who lined up outside the Qwest Center Saturday morning entered into a lottery system for tickets. The first number drawn out of a hat had the first rights to buy tickets.
Ticket prices range from $62 to $352.
