mac_daddy to summerize the previous discussion, it is safe to say that some of the performances were sloppy, and thus probably not worth seeking out. But..

if you caught the band on a good night, you were given a special treat - because the good shows of this tour rank right up there with any that the band has ever performed...

particular bootlegs to look for are:

Handsome Girls
Some Girls are Bigger than Others (Memphis, TN) --- date?
Garden State '78 (Passaic, NJ) --- date?
Tucson 7.21.78
Washington --- welcome to washington,VGP records --- date?
New York --- date?
Greensboro --- only old vinyl boot exist: released on vinyl as Southern Quotations --- date?
Chicago --- date?
Detroit --- only cdr boot --- date?

did I miss anything? did I get anything incorrect?

The 4 disc HG is now circulating; is there any chance of gettng clean copies of the other sets mentioned above flowing in a similar manner..?
08-16-03 02:17 AM
marko here we go mate!

1.handsome girls,FT.worth 7.18.78+FM recordings
2.Some girls are bigger....This is a compilation of the tour
radio recordings from,Detroit,membhis and houston
3.Garden state:New Jersey 6.14.78,also on name OUT ON BAIL
4.Washington,6.15.78
5.New York 6.19.78
6.Greensboro,incomplete show,still killer 6.26.78
7.Chicago,tight&dresses&tampax july 8th 1978
8.Detroit july 6th 1978

No clean copies,if you mean SBD?those all are audience
reordings,in vg aud quality.Chicago is the best of the
bunch.
I have remastered my all, they all sounds good to ME,because
iīm used to them.
Oh i forgot TUCSON,its good aud recording.Only for completist really.
08-16-03 02:50 AM
mac_daddy marko-

as always, thanks for the info...

by clean copies, I mean a disc burned DAO, with no digisnits or mastering errors (CD burning issues)...

AUDs are fine, esp. since that is all that circulates in some cases...
08-16-03 02:57 AM
marko I would really help you,but right now i donīt have that.
On sunday we know our moving weekend. And then i have to pack
all my stones cdīs DAMMIT.But,how busy youīre with this?I
could burn these for you,in september, even iīm still busy
with fixing things,i have some yard work, but if it rains,
canīt do it.
08-16-03 05:02 AM
mac_daddy take your time, marko. I really appreciate the offer...

whatever sources you send out, I will make sure we pass along to the group...

but I jsut sent out the four disc Handsome Girls, so that should be enough for a while...

this should be fun, and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

Zeeta FT.worth 7.18.78 is out of this world!

Taylorites - listen to Woody in this show and weep!!

Attacking all the solos with such venom, Charlie is so hyped as well (maybe he was "wet" at this point!).
I love Jagger's backing vocals on Happy "yeeeaaaaaaagghhhh" with the back of the throat.
I would love to know just how MANY grams of coke the band got through (esp. Jagger) this tour!!

"Taylor who Ronnie??"
08-18-03 08:17 AM
marko How many grams?you should ask,how many kilos?
08-18-03 08:29 AM
Lazy Bones Another title that's nice from '78 is "From Lakeland To Oakland".

Ha Ha!

What is your favourite tour Marko - you are in a very good position to judge considering your legendary Cdr collection!!
08-18-03 08:56 AM
Jumacfly 78 is really my favourite (you didn t ask me but here s my answer Zeeta !) tour...the songs were perfectly played; the rythm section is pure madness and mick is on fire (or may be too drunk!!)
kilos of Coke?? you mean Trucks filled with Coke and Dozens of southern rebel yell!!!

Respect, I don't have bootlegs from all tours (although persuing!) I ***LOVE*** '78 so far - yeah Jagger has been overdoing the unprompted piss ups!

"she doesn't fuckin' know me Ronnie!"
08-18-03 10:33 AM
jb Can we all really be honest with each other and admit 78 was truly the last "real" stones tour?
08-18-03 01:20 PM
marko No JB it really wasnīt,78 was mostly awful.
08-18-03 01:25 PM
jb mARKO, how can you say that....they played hard and raw unlike the crap that started in 81.....
08-18-03 01:30 PM
marko 81 crap?now youīre kidding yourself?78 was sloppy,so was
76.Period.If you whine about not hearing guitars, that load
of old bollocks.Iīve been listening lot of shows from 1990-1998,in past few days,i really have no problem hearing
guitars, they just donīt play the same way they used to.
Also PA`S arenīt the same, keef&ronnie donīt use ampegs anymore.+they are 60.
Ok i send you philly&buffalo and boulder-78,let see what you
going to say!
08-18-03 02:03 PM
jb I will pay you money(US-n0t phony euros) if you can provide me with one boot from 94 0n that is better than any 78 performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
08-18-03 02:48 PM
marko Yeah i can,washington-94,new jersey-94 2nights,i can go on
and on.
08-19-03 11:58 AM
jb I will listen and judge..if you are even remotely correct, I will send you 10 american dollars....
08-20-03 03:14 PM
Jumping Jack Buffalo 78? I was there and it sucked big time. There were any number of shows from 89, 94 and some from 03 that were better. 97-99? Worst of all including some of 78. 72 & 75 were tough tours to follow.
08-20-03 03:36 PM
jb 97 to current just awful....94..the gigs in amsterdam were the high point. 81 was average...horrible song selection and Mick's vocals the worst ever....

You sure you were at Rich Stadium and not Rich's Marina? I was at the Stadium. Up front on Ronnie's side. It was a great show, IMO!!

mac_daddy, thank you so much for Handsome Girls. I may never listen to another Stones recording. Absolutely awesome!!

LadyJ.
08-20-03 04:02 PM
jb handsome girls, next to the 72-73 boots, is unbelievable...the last "real" rolling stones tour. I am sad to say that after 89, buffalo completely stopped supporting the stones..I rember in either 94 or 97 only 31,ooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!fuckin embarrassing...
08-20-03 04:08 PM
LadyJane Wrong jb!!

B2B drew at least 50k. at Rich Stadium.

Tell me..do you have some sort of database with attendance figures? If so...it needs some tweeking!!

LadyJ.

But I agree with you about Handsome Girls!!
08-20-03 04:12 PM
jb tHERE IS ONE lADYj...i AM ALMOST CERTAIN NOT 50K....SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.
08-20-03 04:14 PM
