Glimmer Twin This is sad, but I think it is expected. I don't think Charlie can do it any more. And Keith has gotten sloppy with age. I wish they could go on forever. But I'm hoping for at least one more studio album. Even if they don't tour.
20th August 2007 09:34 PM
Gimme Shelter Even if this is the end (I don't believe that) but look what they have given us.
21st August 2007 06:07 AM
jaymze I think it is the end of the major tours around the world.

I thnk they will play selected shows. Especially in the USA and UK.

I have accepted that Slane will be the last time I see them live (what a gig!). At the same time I would not be suprised if I saw them at a one-off thing or a small series of shows in (relatively) small places.

Whatever happens, they have had such an enduring career and now have such an enduring legacy. I think it will be impossible for any band in future to have the same impact as The Stones.

Nice post. I agree this will never happen again. Stones Is Stones!

So glad you got to see them at Slane.

peace out,
Martha

oddly enough, this is one of the most intelligent posts in the thread.

twicks1 What if the delay on the release of "Shine A Light" is so the Stones can schedule and hype up some official "last shows" to coincide with its release?

That's the only way I can see them drumming up much fuss about the film.

Stones If Wyman shows up to play for the London shows that would tell me it is the last. If not The Rolling Stones go on until one of them dies.

who?

twicks1 I will withdraw my support for the Stones if they appear onstage as "The Rolling Stones" without one of these core members:

Mick
Keith
Charlie

Poison Dart The Stones will be back.

Mick's ego is too big for him to stay home + do nothing.

It might not be on such a grand scale, but they will be back.

Isn't ABB the biggest tour ever?
21st August 2007 09:26 PM
TomL when they come back to see us we will let you know. Finally an end to ABB.

I would like to see 5 to 6 shows in major markets, I think that's what we will get.

No matter what it's all good.

oldkr its not the end of the stones live butr it is thankfully the end of the circus.

just to clear something up BB king does 300+ shows a year. mind you he sits down for most of the time.

steel driving hammer Ladies and Gentlemen, if you don't know what to think, I'll tell you...

The Stones will announce "The Last Time" tour BEFORE THE TOUR STARTS, which will bring more seats, more people, more press, more coverage, more History.

Trust me.

End of subject.

Howe could that be!

But seriously, watch and remember what I said.

They will go out on a grand scale.
22nd August 2007 11:22 AM
glencar Nah, Mick has too much self-respect to pull that crap. I think, anyway.
22nd August 2007 11:23 AM
Saint Sway Sunday's show is going to be quite special.

the Stones (possibly?/most likely?) bowing out in their home town. To steal an oft used LJ phrase - "TINGLE"

I would love to be at their last show

I just looked online and there are surprisingly tix available. Looking into flights...

Tony, I would never take disagreement as being disrespectful. But seriously, Mick has always ahted questions/stories about how it'll be the last tour. The LAST thing he'd ever do is announce a tour/album as the last gasp. Just can't see it. BTW What's yer opinion on ABB? Did you see any shows?

I hope not, farewell tours/farewell shows tend to really suck.
22nd August 2007 03:07 PM
glencar Which is why Mick's too smart to fall for it.
