why almost the same set two nights in a row?
1. apparently there was a number of technical glitches(lights, monitor issues, video and camera issues for the big screen) only those who knew what was supposed to happen, the crew needed a repeat, it's a highly complex event(Riff talked about this)
2. Gazza is correct, after listening to the show a few times today you can pick out mistakes, off key, you would not notice being there but the band knew...

I agree - it was never one of my favorites, anyway, wouldn't miss it a bit.
Licks tour openers Street Fightin Man or Brown Sugar were much better.
Something a little more daring would be preferred, though, like Rough Justice (as they did at Phoenix in Toronto) or Oh No Not You Again would be cool.
Keep on Rollin'
Yes, I think either of those would be much better. I don't know anyone who particularly likes SMU. They opened with it on one of the shows I saw last tour and it was disappointing. I think Rough Justice would be a great opener but they have to play something everyone knows. They should drop SMU and play one of the other warhorses that they insist on playing as the opener. Jumping Jack Flash would be good too. Gimme Shelter, Paint it Black, even Miss You. Mick could come out and tell us how he's missed us all. |

Rough Justice is just totally unfeasible as an opener. Although I think SMU needs to be changed, they can't start going obscure on an audience, many of whom have not heard RJ nor will they ever hear it. However, SFM and Brown Sugar have both been used before. They should go for something daring, but still enjoyed by a mass audience and I think Paint It Black is ideal. The tempo and beginning seem tailor made for an opener in getting the crowd going. |
