It is a travesty of justice!
Pete doesn't want my money? Fine, I am giving to Mick and the Stones. They will take every penny.

I have been doing daily harping about the red state conspiracy for a month now.
The latest post shows the NA tour map from here with the red/blue state map. It really has gotten to the point of being rediculous.

BTW, I pinched herbie, but give you credit in the sig line. MOWAT has seen it.

just was able to get a copy of wire and glass. all eleven minutes of it. about a buck a minute. its worth it. some stuff hearkens back to the by numbers and one of the tracks sounds like it could have fit on quadraphenia. i am so looking forward to their shows. will have to pick up tix fer a second show now. JJ hope you get some shows. seems to me they really don't want to play alot and they just want to hit the coasts. |

rolling who |
The Who have always been bigger in the Blue States (Boston, New York, California, Seattle) as well as somewhat less liberal outposts like Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. If they want to actually make money on this tour, I think it's wise to only hit these areas (and only play one gig at each, unless sellouts happen), then play to a bunch of half-empty arenas throughout NASCAR Nation. |

Interesting analysis except the NASCAR nation is loaded with high achieving affluent yankees who fled northern taxes and now have plenty of disposable income as opposed to the blue collar factory workers The Who are currently selling to. |

Pete is simply touring in close proximity to academic centers and playgrounds...that way, he can continue his "research"

Wire & Glass is sort of a mixed bag. Upom repeated listens, I had the following observations:
Sound Round, Pick Up The Peace, Endless Wire, and We Got A Hit (the first four songs) are definitely interesting. While not quite the classic Who sound some would make you believe (there's hints throughout), this is a return to form. It shows The Who are still capable of making meaningful music. These four songs have got me somewhat excited about the new album.
Unfortunately, these four songs make up only about half of Wire & Glass. They Make My Dreams Come True (the fifth song) is little more than one of those connecting device type songs you find all over Tommy. The music itself is not very interesting and can easily be dismissed,
This brings us to the final song, Mirror Door. With lines like Johnny Cash, Johnny Ray; will there be music, will there be war; will we be rich, will we be poor; who will walk through the Mirror Door; this song is designed as the centerpiece of Wire & Glass. Apparently, Pete thinks this is one hot song. At 4:13 minutes this by far the longest song on Wire & Glass. My verdict??? This song really blows. The weakest song on Wire & Glass. Not only does it not hold up with repeated listens, it just the kind of song that puts you to sleep. Dullsville.
When the album does get released, my hope is it follows the promise of Sound Round, Pick Up The Peace, Endless Wire, and We Got A hit but my guess is you're going to get an uneven album with more songs like They Made My Dreams Come True & Mirror Door thrown into the mix.
