I am as excited by this set list as I was the day I saw the track listing for Forty Licks.
frankly, I am finding it difficult to contain my excitement today. |

I think we're all somewhat disappointed. If they scrapped 2 or 3 warhorses, think about the possibilities. |

I had sincerely hoped they would start this tour with a bang. I hoped they would dare to take some risks. I hoped they dared to show off the excellent and enormous catalogue they have created. I hoped they would choose a set to make every critic in the world -that has stated the Stones are a repeating oldies-act- eat their words.
BOMH sounded cool. I love that they played OOC and She's So Cold. I hate that they started with Start Me Up again. I mean, come on??!! And IORR to close it? WTF? Of course they should play the stronger warhorses that made them famous. But only the strong ones IMO, like BS, JJF, GS, SFTD. Cut the rest.
I will follow the setlist-development over the next months with some weary interest. If it doesn't improve and no club shows are added in between, I won't attend moer than 1 or 2 shows. I'd like to say I wouldn't visit any show, but I know when the time comes, I'll just have to see them at least one time, even with a sucky setlist in the vomit-inducing Amsterdam ArenA stadium. If only to see them, the Gods themselves.
But, I AM disappointed. I couldn't believe it last night when I saw the first few songs show up here. I thought someone was pulling my leg. For real. Then I went to bed before the ending. Even though I came home in time especially to see the set come in. For me, that's quite meaningful. |

I agree 100% with that!

It's a stadium show people, the Phoenix show only got 3 warhorses and the arena show will get 6-7. |

Yes, that's such a nice way to respond to a personal and sincere opinion. Thank you for being so open-minded. |

It's all gonna be alright. We are all gonna get a little something this tour. The new songs rocked at the club gig in TO. All that matters is that they are playing solid, and they are. I gotta agree with too many war horses though. Got one for Baltimore today. |

Hey, I'm sorry Angiegirl. It wasn't aimed at you directly. Don't take it personally. I'll admit that I'm a bitch myself, only I usually reserve it for TV weathermen and politicians....but especially weathermen. But as far as setlists go....there's only so much you can play. I'm sure Mick & Keith are doing the best they can. |

I think a 'Greatest Hits set' could be a great thing if they used some smaller hits. Thumb, Dead Flowers, Let It Bleed, Time is On My Side, Ruby Tuesday, Midnight Rambler, CYHMK. a lot of casual fans like those songs too and nearly all of them have appeared on Best Of albums
I hope they aren't dragging out Miss You. give it some harmonica & keep it down to 4 minutes
No SFM, Shelter, Angie, Paint It Black - so you can't say they're only out to play the hits. if they rotated these around with Start Me Up, IORR or even JJFlash, I'd be happy
of course I'll want to hear some really forgotten gems but it ain't gettin any better than the Licks tour |

Lol, yes, I know what you mean. I know it wasn't aimed at me per se, sorry. It just irritates me that one gets that sort of one-liners every time someone doesn't swallow everything the Stones do and don't sing hallelujah together with each others hands on each others asses, especially when also providing arguments for that opinion.
I, for one, always try to explain why I feel the way I do, I try not to generelise too much. I don't look at the setlist and go: "well, that's clear. They suck, this tour will be crap". I always leave room for possible improvement in the future. And, I didn't hear them play this set of course. If I had been there, I might have been more mild in my opinion. So here's to hoping for more variation!
