for fucks sake!!! you don't want them to play some of their greatest hits and with that, some of the gratest rnr songs ever because you've seen them a few times before??? thats not only crazy, but selfish as many new and young fans like myself who have not seen them before wanna see the hits.
admitidley i'd love to see them do a rare one like u got the silver or loving cup but not a whole set!!!
oh and whats the point in wanting them to play sway when they havn't got a lead guitarist to play any sort of solo at the end. |

I have only one thing to say,to me JJF should allways be
the closer.
And maybe the opener should be another one like Paint it
black,or something else, which they havenīt opened yet. |

My favorite part about Sway is actually the lyrics and simple groove. It sounds weary and apprehensive but at the same time it is so perfect and rocking. like feeling regret but accepting the outcome. It sums up a mood and vibe like only the Stones could do. granted, i love the Taylor Outro, but it's not my entire reason for loving the song.

It's to early to bitch about the setlist. The stones never took risks on opening shows since 1989. If the set doesn't change in the, let's say, coming 3 months, then we can bitch what we want. But it's too early for that |

fair enough, although I think waiting 3 shows, not 3 months, is reasonable - plus I dont agree that they dont take risks on opening night since 1989
1994 - opened with first performance of Not Fade Away in 28 years. three world premieres. First ADTL in 13 years. First Hot Stuff in 17 years.
1997 - Two live debuts. First LSTNT for 15 years. First Bitch & Ruby Tuesday for 7 years. First two songs broadcast live on TV
2002 - One live debut. First Loving Cup in 30 years. First 'Neighbours' in 20 years. First Mannish Boy in 16 years (it had only been played in club shows like the El Mocambo and 100 Club in about 40 years!), first "Slipping away" in 7 years.
2005 - one live debut ("Night Time") and er....thats it.

for the world we have to count the 4 new songs from the album. And they used to play 25 (earlier on 29) songs on opening shows, and now just 22, and getting less when the tour goes on.

er...no one's actually said that as far as I can see. "Some" of their greatest hits is fair enough, but its the same bloody ten or so EVERY show at the expense of other great songs that get ignored. Only an asshole expects them to drop the songs that made them famous and just play rarities
>thats not only crazy, but selfish as many new and young fans like myself who have not seen them before wanna see the hits
most people at the show last night would have seen the band before. If anything, you'd be in the minority. How about catering for BOTH?

No. all of the new songs played last night were played at the club show. Of course, this is the 'official' premiere of those new songs but I used the same yardstick in what I said about the 1994, 1997 and 2002 tour openers for what I said above. each of the club shows on those tours featured premieres and long lost songs, as did this year's one |

This isn't about nonsense about war horses, it's that the set list blew no matter how you want to look at it. Obviously people enjoyed themselves, and I sure as hell wish I had been there, but compared to other openers, this set list was pathetic for an opening night. I was in DC for opening night in 94, and that was a bloody great show. The set list had balls, they opened up with a somewhat hidden gem- Not Fade Away, they played Memory Motel, Rocks Off, and Can't Get Next To You, in addition to a load of new songs. They probably played too many new songs that night for the neutral, but the setlist had some imagination, this one was all about safety and being boring. I think it was a mistake because the Stones are at their best when taking risks. |

I really hope that this tour will see some premieres but I don't count on anything. And I will not pay $250 in Europe to see Steel wheels part 5. It's a bit sad. Some dutch reviews aren't that good too! That's a new thing. They also say: the same trick , AGAIN |

I am so thankful that they are alive and well. I feel lucky just on that count alone.
I hope to see many songs come in and out of the set.......as the tour continues to KICK our ASSES!
As far as getting a song I want to hear....I take my luck as it comes. I find that attitude helps me to enJOY a lot more in life all the way around.
If you can't rock me.....somebody WILL!
Grateful to be alive today,
Martha

That could aid us in our battle to reduce the amount of warhorses. I don't mind 5 or 6 but when it's half the show, it's too much. |

First Under My Thumb in 15, first Last Time in Gazza knows how long, first Little Queenie since '73, Steel Wheels "rarity", b-stage debut, first Let It Bleed in 15, 1st 19th Nervous since the same time as the Last Time, blah blah blah . . .
oops! Missed your "pre show counts" criteria, G. Carry on.

I hear ya, Martha. Just wait until the Stones are gone. See how the "war horses" nay-sayers would even wish for that type of set once it's no longer available.

noo, I would not mind if the stones would stop tomorrow. I wouldn't die, life goes on, even without a stones-heard it all b4- live show. If your life doesn't go on? that's sad |

Agree with MoonIsUp. I'd rather not see just another warhorse show. I had my chances for last night's show but I had to work instead. There are tix available still for tomorrow's show but I'll pass & wait for Friday's show. |

In these trying times, it's always wise to remember the bard:

Pay for your ticket and don't complain."
