Ten Thousand Motels I just watched that film on TV for about the 100'th time last night. I managed to break away from it and go to bed about halfway through it. I hadn't intended on even that. That film has a "quality" to it that I can't define but it does suck one in. Maybe every 50 or 100 years they should have an Oscar of Oscars show.?????

glencar Please, however good it is, no more awards shows ever again. Besides, On The Waterfront would take it down easily.

LOL. Yeah I suppose you're right. But somehow the Oscars aren't as cheap as most of the copy cats. But I suppose true "objectivity" is as far away as the next mirage.

No, I don't thing so. Casablanca has "shakespearan" quality dialogue.

MarthaMyDear TTM, it's weird but I haven't gotten my cable installed yet
so I've been renting some movies and watching some of my own
videos and DVDs, etc., and one of the few movies I have on
VHS that I watched a few times since I moved was
Casablanca, which I LOVE!!! There's a coffeehouse/cafe I go
to that reminds me a lot of that movie (The Casbah
Cantina)... One of my favorite lines in the movie is:

A Nazi asks Bogart, "What nationality are you?"
Bogart replies, "I'm a drunkard."

ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAY too funny!!! HE!!! HE!!!
HE!!! lol.............. :P lol.......
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P lol..... I love the
whole "look" and style of the movie, also, as well as a ton
of other things about it!!! Whoever did the set design and
the costume design was brilliant with the way it works so
greatly in black and white and the beautiful fog at the
end... It's an AMAZING movie!!! ROCK ON!!!

*** Martha ***

You played it for her... You can play it for me!!!

Soldatti I used to like this movie but now I'm a bit tired. It's an old time classic and deserves that for the story only.
August 15th, 2004 09:49 PM
MarthaMyDear Actually, I kept playing the movie all day and night one day
'cause it's just so, damn EXCELLENT, I just never tire of
it!!! There's so many great lines in the movie and I like that
"round up the usual suspects" line, also... I
like the last one: "...I think this is the beginning of a
beautiful friendship"... If only there were
more people like Rick in this world and that I met one... Oh,
I still have hope!!! lol............. Except
the drunkard-part... LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways,
take care, PEACE, and DO ROCK ON!!! PEACE!!!

Well you just have to learn to get in touch with your "inner sap".
August 17th, 2004 03:38 PM
glencar I usually just beat down my "inner sap" ifyaknowwhaddamean...
August 17th, 2004 03:52 PM
Ten Thousand Motels I never really paid so much attention to the "love story" theme in the film....except as it related to Rick's cynicism (or coolness if that's what you want to call it.) I always focused on the historical context. "War is hell". It brings out the worst in people and the best in people, often at the same time.
August 17th, 2004 04:05 PM
glencar It's not a bad flick. There are just a few that are somewhat better. In my humble opinion, of course.
August 17th, 2004 04:18 PM
egon never seen the complete movie. don't think i could even rent it anywhere...
