Topic: ABKCO - We Love You Return to archive

kmc Do the executives at ABKCO really dislike the Stones that much? Putting aside the merits of the singles sleeve collections - they are neat to look at - the covers of the box sets are an embarrassment. The first one had half the group in shadows. The second cover is a group photo - an outtake of some promo shots they took in a park - with the group smoking and having “Who cut the cheese?” looks on their faces.

This is the best they can come up with? No wonder Mick wants nothing to do with them.

CotchfordCat I quite like those cover photos! The second one is from a photocall in London's Green Park, by the way. But I have to agree with you about Abkco's motivation for issuing these current sets.
But there you go, that's Allen Klein for you. From the day and hour his company took ownership of what could reasonably be argued as the most influential back catalogue in modern rock and roll music, it has had not the faintest idea of how to look after it.
All it, and he, know is that people will always be willing to pay to listen to it....
