Rags Here's an updated mailer on Mac's tour dates:

Ian McLagan is the legendary piano/Hammond B3 player of the Small Faces and Faces. He is currently recording and touring with his own Austin-based Bump Band and Billy Bragg & The Blokes. Mac is the author of the highly acclaimed rock & roll autobiography, 'All The Rage.' Mac is in high demand as a top notch session and touring
musician and has worked with the Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and countless others. Mac's Bump Band includes Gurf Morlix - guitar (Lucinda Williams), Scrappy Jud Newcomb - guitar (Beaver Nelson), Don Harvey - drums, and George Reiff - bass (Ian Moore). Mac & The Bump Band will be showing off their new CD, 'Rise & Shine!' as well as a few surprises from his
Small Faces & Faces days.

twicks1 I've heard that Ian's piano playing abilities are very diminished these days, and that during live shows, he is severely turned down in the mix. It's a real shame.

Sales for Ian's last solo album were also very low in Portland. Why doesn't Portland support Ian like the rest of the world? Macca can play there any time he wants to a sellout crowd. Very disappointing...

I have also heard that attendance on this tour has been very low, with most clubs only half-full. Embarrassing.

Ian should really call it a day. He is damaging his legacy!

Rags I don't normally respond to this type of inflamatory post, but I want to set the record straight for other fans. Your post is not based on any factual information whatsoever. My guess is that you are just trying to stir things up. I've only received positive emails and posts from fans and many have requested gig/news updates via this forum.

>diminished these days, and that during live shows, he is >severely turned down in the mix. It's a real shame.

What live show are you referring to? I've been to many of his solo gigs and tours with other bands, and this is not the case. In fact, the keyboards are the focal point.

>Sales for Ian's last solo album were also very low in >Portland.

Mac's new CD, 'Rise & Shine!' hasn't been released yet. The last one, 'Bump In The Night' is a reissue of his Lp. from 1981 and is only available from Macspages.com and not in stores.

>I have also heard that attendance on this tour has been >very low, with most clubs only half-full. Embarrassing.

There have been no solo tour dates thus far, except local gigs in Austin, so your comments are just plain ignorant and unfair. All of the Austin gigs have been packed beyond capacity - I've been there. Based on experience and the feedback from the venues/fans, the turn-out in Seattle will be great.

I think an apology is due on your part.

Gazza Keep postin' the info , Rags - thanks.

I know quite a few people who've seen Mac in the last couple of years - both with his own band and with Billy Bragg and theyve all said he's been excellent.

I wish he was playin' with the Stones!

Rags >Keep postin' the info , Rags - thanks.

Thanks Gazza. I was just starting to question whether I should continue to post info here, but I've gotten such wonderful feedback from fans on here and other boards. I hope to see some of you at the upcoming gigs! Mac's mastery at the keys is amazing. I've seen him numerous times with his Bump Band and Billy Bragg & The Blokes...and I always crack a smile at all the jaws dropping around me when Mac plays.

BILL PERKS KEEP IT UP RAGS-MACS THE MAN WHO SHOULD BE PLAYIN WITH THE STONES NOW BUT I'M VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT HE'S DOING-KEEP POSTING-I HOPE HE COMES EAST ONE DAY.TWICKS SHOULD CALL IT A DAY

Rags I feel the same way...he was born a Stone. I guess fate didn't work out that way, but at least he's able to focus on his own music and it's very special. Mac has plans to come to the East coast with the release of 'Rise & Shine!' in 2004. I'll keep you posted for sure....that's my neck of the woods as well. Can't wait for that!

too well, that must be the ONLY reason!

Rags Just a little reminder about the BUMP broadcast online tonight...

News from KGSR Austin:

Ian McLagan and the Bump Band (who play Austin's Saxon Pub Friday, 8/15 - airing live on KGSR's Lone Star State of Mind" from 10 till midnight) celebrate a record deal with Gaff Music in the US, and Sanctuary Records UK in Europe for his new CD, "Rise & Shine!" The album features the Bump Band--Gurf Morlix, `Scrappy' Jud Newcomb, Don Harvey and George Reiff, with Patty Griffin on backing vocals. Gaff Music President Scott Beal is a huge fan of Mac's. "I'm honored and excited to be working with Mac ... his music is like Scotch, it's getting even better with age." The North Carolina label is also home to Henry Kaiser and Glenn Phillips. "Rise & Shine!" is a good fit for Sanctuary UK, following their release of the Small Faces "Ultimate Collection" box set this past June...

Tune in for the Live broadcast tonight: http://www.kgsr.com/

Broadcast scheduled for 10 pm CST, 11 pm EST, 4 am GMT

CONGRATS MAC & BUMPS!!

twicks1 My apologies to anyone who took my posting seriously...I was doing my best attempt at a jb-style "naysayers" post. I guess I need to work on my sarcasm a little.

For the record, I dig Mac's stuff with both versions of the Faces A LOT...His book "All The Rage" is a must-read.

Rags Thanks for clarifying that. I didn't think it was serious since it was way off base, but I also didn't want others to misconstrue any of that as fact. I think that's great if you're a fan of the Faces and I'd like to hear more about it. I'd much rather hear from fans about the music, gigs, personal stories, etc...especially those who were lucky enough to see bands like the Small Faces & Faces live. Anyway, you're all welcome to post discussion on the Faces Forum. Hope to see you there:
