"Laugh I Nearly Died" - without hearing the songs in full yet, I've no doubt in the slightest that this is the gem on this record that when the dust settles we'll all be raving about.

Agree, agree, agree!! My favorite already, what a spectacular song!!

"Sweet Neo-Con" - [...]Like the riff, not crazy about the 'gnarling' vocal.

Same feeling here, I hate it when Mick sings like that! Sounds so fake. I have this same problem with other songs on this album, as far as I can tell from the snippets.

Also like Rain Fall Down, Look What The Cat Dragged In and some others. Full report in September .

Trey Krimsin Hearing the samples here and the ones at Amazon is whetting my appetite. Is today September 5th?

now I have heard the whole thing, and it reinforces what I said based on the short clips

It is truly majestic

VoodooChileInWOnderl The fact that nobody have asked about the cover art shows that

BTW, The whole covert art is the best or one of the best so far

gotdablouse Haha, I was waiting for that one, Philippe Manoeuvre (editor of R&F) just can't help himself when it comes to the Stones. Just like us, their latest album is always their greatest (I have his DW and VL reviews handy) ;-) In 1994 there was a debate in France Inter and PM was saying how fabulous VL was unlike DW and then one guy reminded him he'd said the same thing about DW compared to Undercover...he just laughed or said something like the Stones can't do a bad album, which I guess I agree with. They've have a hard time coming up with memorable songs though since the early 70s, just one or two here and there.

LOL

So, Voodoo, here's a question about the cover art: does it have the artist name and album title on it or is it a "pure art" cover? I'm curious...
August 16th, 2005 09:00 AM
Gazza as far as I can see, its JUST the picture of the band.

No title. No name of artist.

how many have they done like that before? Just the first album? (which I think was the first time anyone had ever done that..quite a move for a new band..)
August 16th, 2005 09:56 AM
VoodooChileInWOnderl I mean the whole art, not just the front cover, it's great
August 16th, 2005 10:10 AM
Monkey Woman Oh, you're a teaser, Voodoo!
August 16th, 2005 10:11 AM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Yes I'm one but you get what you want... doncha?

JaggerLips Having listened to over half the album in lo-fi quality I can safely say that it's a cracker!!!

RAIN FELL DOWN. is such a slinky sexy number.
Look What the Cat Dragged In. also a great track
Driving Too Fast. gret track also
She Saw Me Coming. sounds like it should have been on Undercover
Biggest Mistake, only listened to it once, great track.
Let Me Down Slow. great Jagger number
It Won't take Long. yes this is getting boring yet another great track!
August 16th, 2005 01:56 PM
pdog Good thing I'm a patient man, b/c I can't wait for this album to come out !!!
August 16th, 2005 07:14 PM
Soldatti It Won't Take Long is my favorite by now with LIND in close second.
August 16th, 2005 08:09 PM
glencar Please, this stuff is wonderful but don't damn it with the promise of a Grammy. I'd rather smell my own fart!
August 18th, 2005 12:13 PM
Kennydice 5th of September is the date of all dates
August 18th, 2005 01:30 PM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Very nice bass on Dangerous Beauty, not sure if it's Darryl but in the solos the bass is really great, nice mix with the guitars another highlight
August 18th, 2005 03:13 PM
pdog What a great thread, just stones, no weird picures and stupid comments. Is this what a Stones board is really like?
I'm kidding, really!
I'm really just excited, at a new album and tour. It's been 24 years since I felt this way.
It's awesome.
These songs are just screaming for my infiniti's...
