STONES STOP OLDIES TICKET DISCOUNT
THE ROLLING STONES have stepped in after discovering a magazine for older Brits was offering half price tickets to their concerts. Saga magazine, exclusively for the over-50s, promoted the band's A Bigger Bang tour by allowing readers to snap up tickets for half their GBP140 ($263) to GBP300 ($565) face value. But promoters have stopped the offer, even though concerts are far from sold out - amid fears they want to stop older audiences filling their gigs. A spokesman for the band says, "When we found out it was happening, we put a stop to it. Saga members will now have to pay the same as everybody else." Saga spokesman PAUL GREEN says, "It's an indication of what a lively bunch today's older people are that we can encourage them to go to stadium rock concerts."

Lots of, shall we say, factual inaccuracies in that story.
Pity they werent so concerned about their image though when licensing their songs to drivel such as Days of Our Lives
Some nonsense in a couple of the papers today about the Stones shows not selling (although a quick glance on TM UK will indicate otherwise) based on the fact that the scam artists who bought the overpriced AMEX allocation en masse several months ago are shitting themselves because there are hundreds of tickets on e-bay that theyve suddenly realised theyre not going to get their money back on - they were clearly oblivious to the numerous post-sale offers that come up for all Stones shows as the event draws nearer. In fact, TM released a few more this morning for a while it seems as they normally do a few days before the shows.
Good to see the e-bay chancers getting their fingers burnt off. |
