<----- Why not just put "Slit Skirts" up there, Joey?

'Cuz it would lead to "Slit Wrists", 'lil RonnieCake!

*********WHUMP!*********

"Ohh, that didn't sound natural, Bob."
"No, I think that Savage Young One's corking his bat for that 'whump' sound only Sammy Sosa, Arnold Palmer, Bob Dole, and B.R.M.C. have had so far."

But yes, Joey, "However Much I Booze" is outstanding. That and "Slip Kid" both. Most of that album's pretty good.

I actually heard "Athena" on Washington radio. Which just shows how screwed up Washington is. A relic of It's Hard that's aged as gracefully as the rest of that horrifying album. What bugs me is a couple of songs on it ("It's Hard", "I've Known No War") might actually have been passable if they'd stripped the synths off and gone with guitars.

As for the rest, Joeykins, let's just say you're lucky the RonnieCake's only allowed to talk at the top of the posts.

TheSavageYoungXyzzy Certainly.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~mononom/mp3-2.htm

He's got it for download there.

To quote him, "Note: some filez are password protected, you can use http://www.xs4all.nl/~mononom [as the password]".

He also has a quite excellent FTP site, follow his instructions.

mac_daddy you guys really detest "It's Hard." It ain't that bad - it's better than "Dirty Work" and "Undercover." Am I just a complete homer because I dig "Another Tricky Day?" OK - so it ain't "Won't Get Fooled Again," but it isn't nearly as lame as that "Rough Boys" video (which is in a league with Mick and Bowie's "Dancin'" travesty). "Athena" (in my opinion) is the weakest cut on the album, even though it is also the album's biggest hit. Plus, they toured with the Clash for that album (another great childhood memory). And "Combat Rock" is a sweet album; it is also almost as underrated as their groundbreaking "Sandanista!" 3 LP set.

100 Years Ago released:
sway-devestating, with or without Keith
winter-Taylor's greatest solo
100 years ago-the Brussel's Affair live version kicks ass, should bring this one back
jigsaw puzzle-Jagger outBob's Dylan
all the way down-should've been huge on AOR in '83 but alas barely played
turd on the run-the Stones invent cowpunk blues?
ventilator blues-brutal and menacing
till the next goodbye-just a beautiful ballad
think i'm going mad-Undercover needed a ballad right after tie you up (Pain of Love)
through the lonely nights-why was this not on IORR?

unreleased:
living in heart of love-why was this not on IORR?
travelin' man-a song ready made for the road
criss cross-the stones discover funk
fiji jim-guitar weave ecstasy
and of course: claudine-the best single the Stones never released
let's go steady-should've Keith had two songs on ER??

as for the Who, there is one gem hidden at the end of it's hard, cry if you want, the only time on the whole album Pete slashes and bashes on the guitar, love Kenny Jones martial drumbeat on it too

sammy davis jr. That part on Sway- I always thought it was my mom yelling for me- so I'd go turn down the stereo and say "What?" I still think of that when I hear that Mick yelling part.
Should've Been Hits:
Hide Your Love (Just a Great groove)
Loving Cup (a country band WOULD have a Huge hit with it if they covered it properly)
Rock Off (Better than just an "album cut"- it has all the elements of a great Stones song)
When The Whip Comes Down
Let It Loose (Possibly the Best Songwriting the band has ever done-STILL gives me goosebumps)

I am with you on "Crazy Mama." I think Black and Blue is underrated, and unfairly dismissed - I suggest earlier in this thread that "Melody" doesn't get the credit it should...

those are all great tunes that you list, though...

did anyone see that 21 Jump Street years ago when Johnny Depp was a narc, and to infiltrate the bad guys' clique, he joined their rock band (as the rhythm guitarist) and the band then played Monkey Man? I am sure Depp had alot to do with that scene; even then he was a big Stones fan, of Keith esp...

egon and the band then played Monkey Man?

i remember that!
and they actually used the real version if i'm correct.
only the intro that is, i don't think they 'played' the full song.
