MrPleasant Hello, I'm Mr. Pleasant. Perhaps you recognise me from my many ventures to México City's fine Adult establishments, for which I frequent to see many of today's young bootie.

Or perhaps, and most likely, you've never read me. You laugh at my current status and my pity attempts to make it on to the so-called "enemies list".

Either way I thank you, and I invite you to post your memories regarding your efforts to stay on the wagon. This is going to be fun, people!

sirmoonie Do they play this in Mexican booty establishments?

Starbuck a sobriety thread has no place on this board.

i demand nothing short than complete deletion. thread euthanasia, if you will.

MrPleasant They play Luis Miguel. (The dude who creamed Daisy Fuentes.)

Hey, don't shoot me, I've only starred in several XXXXX videos with hounds and pigeons and stuff.

There will by a rule for this thread, though: submissions which contain proper spelling, civilization, or references to Led Zeppelin will NOT be tolerated.

lotsajizz I dig 'Misty Mountain Hop'

Riffhard This thread has the makings of the shortest thread ever in the history of Rocks Off. I'm just sayin'....No shot at 500 posts. Never gonna happen.

MrPleasant Damn: gotta masturbate again. But that's one of the twelve steps so, if it's alright with you, I'll be at the shower.

Remember, this friday things are going to change.

moonie...i like the way you think. look at the irony. a sobriety thread hijacked by drinkers? who'd have thought it?

here's the game plan: let's keep this thread active...a few posts a day, just to keep it on the front page. then when fryday rolls around, we get LJ hepped up on skye, get some porn in here for tele and watch the magic unfold.

MrPleasant Holiday Tips (Part I)

Tips on Maintaining Sobriety During the Season
The Holiday season, between Thanksgiving and News Year's Day can be the most difficult times for alcoholics and their families.

Alyn
If I hang with the winners I won't pick up that first drink!

Anne
Keep close touch with my sponsor; make sure that she knows me well enough to see if I am working a program.

Ashley G.
By making new friends in the program and learning to enjoy the holidays for what they really are, I gained a new perspective on life.

Anonymous
I learned that no one cares if I'm drinking or not and that "what" I carried in my glass was rarely noticed by anyone.

B.J.
In my early years of Sobriety I would hang out at the 24 hour AA group.

Beecher H.
If you drank during the holidays, focus on something else - and keep busy or entertained.

Bob M.
My first year I latched on to one of the members and didn't let go. They got me through that year and the next two.

Bob S.
For me taking a drink is like jumping out of a plane without a parachute. It would be one hell of a buzz but that buzz would cost me everything I had, forever.

Carol D.
Go late and leave early. I have found that no one notices -- or cares -- how long you are there.

Carolyn
It's not what's in the glass that's important, it's what's in your heart.

Connie
One thing I try to do during the holidays and at any other time I feel the stress is remember how it was.

Ed
Thank your Higher Power for your sobreity today and don't drink. Think how great it is to be sober today.

Ginna G.
Sometimes a peaceful feeling comes just knowing those numbers are in my pocket.

Hugh
Most of all I have to continue to work the steps and be around recovering addicts and alcoholics.

Jim G.
Stay clear of HALT (don't get too hungry, angry, lonely or tired).

John
I deal with the holidays by planning ahead. I stay inside and communicate with the elders and the kids and I do not let anything keep from doing this.

Kim
I could only stay with family for one or two hours and then leave. I made other plans to back me up.

Ten Thousand Motels Robin Williams in Rehab

Jennifer McDonnell
Dose

Robin Williams is one sly dude. While the rest of Hollywood remains fixated on Mel "Sugar Tits" Gibson and his descent toward D-list/has-been status that's happening so fast it would make Carrot Top blush, Williams has quietly checked himself into rehab.

"After 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family," the actor's rep, Mara Buxbaum, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old actor, currently starring in The Night Listener, has a long, sordid history with substance abuse.

In an interview with People magazine in 1988, Williams revealed he first became hooked on cocaine and alcohol while shooting Mork & Mindy.

"Cocaine for me," he told the magazine, "was a place to hide. Most people get hyper on coke. It slowed me down. Sometimes it made me paranoid and impotent, but mostly it just made me withdrawn. And I was so crazy back then – working all day, partying most of the night – I needed an excuse not to talk. I needed quiet times and I used coke to get them."

Williams says he decided to get clean after pal John Belushi died from a drug overdose just a few hours after they snorted coke together.

"The Belushi tragedy was frightening,'' Williams told People. "His death scared a whole group of show business people. It caused a big exodus from drugs."

Three Days in Rehab

Heather Adler
Dose
Thursday, August 10, 2006

If you were a recovering addict, would hearing Three Days Grace play a special, free concert for you help you stay clean – or would it make you crave the sweet, sweet smack to numb the pain more than ever?

The Canadian hard-rockers are hoping their particular brand of anguish-infused rock will help junkies, which is why the group will do free shows at rehab centres, treatment facilities and detention centres this summer. Frontman Adam Gontier, a former addict, is spearheading the project and will also host in-depth Q&A sessions with addicts to talk about how he detoxed.

“Adam is taking these audiences through his dark internal journey as an addict who has gotten clean and explaining what he did to turn his life around and find hope,” the band said in a press release. “Three Days Grace is giving back to the community that saved them. The platinum-selling rock band's sophomore album, One-X, is a raw and confessional release whose lyrics relate the story of lead singer Adam Gontier's personal destruction and ongoing battles with inner demons.”

In other Three Days Grace news, the band will be opening for aged rockers The Rolling Stones when the musical juggernauts roll through Canada in October. Let’s just hope that decaying Keith Richards doesn’t get Gontier back on the dope.
