Zulu Fun Mix Mel Belli: No, Iraq is only *now* a classical failed state. It wasn't a failed state under Saddam. It was an evil state, but actually quite an effective one. The US destruction of this state is the chief reason we now have "neo-terror" breaking out all over the place.

Maxlugar: Germany and Japan are not like Iraq, my friend. In the 1920s, Weimar Germany and Taisho Japan were both budding democracies. They didn't survive the Depression, but there were still plenty of German and Japanese liberals around in the late '40s to bring back to power to build on the past. Very few such people exist in Iraq. The ones there now had to be imported from Detroit. Iraq will fail because the Germany/Japan analogy is flawed. If the neo-cons try to apply their lunatic vision to Iran next, we're all going to be truly fucked, with massive battle deaths, wild and wooly terrorism, uncontrollable budget deficits, and black-hole-collapsing international prestige.

glencar Mathjis, maxy answered your silly assertion that the USA invaded Iraq for oil. As for MW's assertion that anyone on this board(besides USFan) said that Jagger didn't have the right to comment on Iraq/Bush/the neocons, I don't recall that I certainly didn't. Mick himself alluded to the idea that he should step gingerly into that area in a TV interview last night.

I can't wait for Iraq to become like America so all this fighting on the board ends. Besides mathjis, I like most everyone else & this has gotten really old.

PS The interview to which I referred also had bits with the 3 other main players. Charlie's portion was the funniest. He was asked if he looked forward to touring when he was in his cancer treatment & he blurted out no, he was scared of his mortality.

There's enough of a democratic movement in Iraq to take hold. As for Iran, I'd even join you in anti-war marches. That'd be crazy to invade there.

There's a huge pro American youth movement going on there.

They must be cultured appropriately. An invasion could turn them against us. But because of this pro American movement, we might not have to do anything.

Agreed. It'll atke another decade possibly but invading them would burden our military too much. And we'd ahve more Cindy Sheehan behind every bush.

I wish some of these pro-Americaning, Hezbollah-declaring, madras-attending Iranian utes would have a pow-wow with Mick Jagger. Put some learning into his wrinkled anti-American brain (combined age 62).

Alleged. Purported.

America invaded Iraq for oil, we all know that by now. I think it is quite weak to defend this by accusing the UN of not wanting to invade due to "selfish reasons". Your historical senses are failing then.

Mathijs
[/quote]

Man Mathijs you are dumber than dirt. Where is all this oil the US took from Iraq? Show us. Show the board where the US took oil.

You can't because we didn't take any

You falsely accuse the US of invading for oil yet when Saddam for a fact stole billions of illegal oil money you have no problem with it. Bury your head on Saddam just keep blaming the US. No wonder why your type are getting flushed down and out all over the world.

But since it fits your socialist left wing wacko claims and sounds good to your lib friends in the coffee shop it must be true

If you ever have a fact get back to us because your emotional argument doesn't work outside of your little
group of fellow travelers

The only thing old is the stupidity of the oil-crazed Texas jesus-freaks who think a fake 'state' like Iraq can be remolded. The thing was a fiction in 1919 when drawn up by that besotted Churchill and is even more so now. Give the Kurds the freedom they earned, divvy up the rest into Shiite and Sunni lands and declare victory. Anything else is repeating the steps of the Romans in Germany, the Napoleonic French on Spain, the Brits in America circa 1775-1783 (most often forgotten by those who pretend to be patriotic Americans around here!), or the French/American idiocy in Indochina!! Wake up Jesus-freaks, we don't live there and someday we're gonna have to go home! They know that!! As Keith would say 'we should walk before we're made to run'. Divvy the place, install the puppets, declare that we won, and walk----it'll have to be done sooner or later anyway....

Well that very well might have been the way to go but then you run into the oil question again. Who gets the fields? They are primarly in the North and South. There would have been major fighting over this.

Best to keep it together and try and make it work.

But I know your point. The whole middle friggin' east is made up of articial "states". It's part of the problem of this militant Pan Arabian thought process.

Sometimes you can't help but associate one person with a whole group, especially if that person is real outspoken and annoying. I'm sure Telecaster didn't mean anything bad by you, he just let his frustration get the best of him. By the way I just checked out your website...very cool, I enjoyed it a lot.

Good point, Zuzie. But please consider that we're talking about a guy who has inspired God knows how many American criminals, those tattooed, toothless types you see lurking around places you want to just keep driving through. They all sit around saying, "Well, hell, if it's ok by Mick, I guess it's ok by me. I'll just go beat somebody's head in with a pool cue.""

I mean, one can't just ignore that fact in their analysis. It would be intellectual suicide to do so. Intellectual suicide is what it would be.

The points I made to Mathy are part of a long running disagreement that has been going on for over two years

The Texas Jesus freaks, that's who
same ones Mick sang about in Luxury

wherever there is oil in the word--whether it be Libya or Labrador, Arabia or Aruba, Iraq or Iran, you will find Texans--they are the management and most of the specialists in oil fields around the globe
