I recall the coverage of this tour in the day. Rehearsals on Long Island, Mick with the hand injury, photos of same in Rolling Stone. The stage props which made headlines in each city. The bust in Arkansas. The airplane. The logo was outstanding, I've the shirt somewhere. First tour with Woody, I caught both his Stones premiere, as well as his subsequent last Faces tour several months later.
What would be great to land, is a 15 min piece I recall ABC had here in the states did about the opening night in Baton Rouge (can you say safe opening venue?) interviewed by a young Geraldo Riviera at the time. I remember watching it, it would be pissa if anyone has this, I'd go for it. |

Voodoo....my darling.....would you mind posting it in the "superblow" thread???
'75 Tour was my first also. Seems so long ago, doesn't it Nellcote? The Lotus petal stage was pretty incredible.

LJ, yes it seems like EONS ago. Somewhere, in the catacombs I call my cella, are the Rolling Stone magazines with all of the articles on the tour. Top shelf reading in the day, as I'm sure it would be now. And again, the nod to obscure bands/groups for opening acts at the time. We got the Crusaders here, however, I think Toots & The Maytals may have been at other venues. That troika at the microphone for Cherry Oh Baby says it all. What would you pay to see that again, or Mick coming back on stage to finish Happy from '72? That, to coin the advert, would be "priceless" |
