stonedu He has got laryngitis acuta and in his case the reason is misusing and straining his voice to much.
It usually passes quickly if you keep totally quiet and don't even whisper for a few days.

Rarely it can suddenly change but very early then in a storming way giving phlogmonous laryngitis which is a serious condition that often needs hospitalisation.

But the first alternative most likely.Wonder how many more concerts must be cancelled?Should be alright to sing again in a week or so.

Saint Sway they say that this type of laryngitis can usually heal very quickly if the next gig is completely or close to being sold out
