jb They all suck....there has not been one new band worth listening for over 25 yrs....
10th August 2006 11:57 AM
Saint Sway horse crap! Plenty of great new rock out there. Actually more so now than at any other time in my adult life

Kings Of Leon is the real deal!!! Love this band.

jb Have not heard or listened to any of them..I reamin stuck in the 70's.............The only "new" bands that sparked any interest was original Guns-N-roses,STP, Black Crowes, and believe it or not, that band that had that song "Glycerine"?
10th August 2006 12:13 PM
Saint Sway did you like Jet? Are they mainstream enough for you?

or ck out some more established modern acts like White Stripes, North Mississipi All-Stars, Drive By Truckers, Stereophonics, Strokes, Wilco...

if you love music, you just gotta dig around, plenty of good stuff out there no matter what your taste is

Sophia Graves my favorite band nowadays is "...and you will know us by the trail of dead"!
because they really dare to experiment no matter what everyone will say to them..they just do their thing.
they experiment with weird instruments and try how far you can go with "rock"...
you should check them out.. especially the most recent record "worlds apart".
this band i totally unique..in my opinion

otherwise i agree that ok go are pretty nice. didnt hear thaaat much of them..but the older stuff i heard i liked.
otherwise i like my friends band "portugal. the man".. theyre from alaska and lots of people like to say they remind to mars volta. i dont know if i would say the same. erm.
and otherwise i really like alot of stuff from manchester UK.. i think this city has potential.

Frank Black

I know we are all fans of a band thats been around for 40something years but I still wouldnt consider Frank Black "new". He's been putting out albums for over 20 years now. He's far more of an icon than a new artist.

btw... ck out his last album for a really different but fun version of the Stones "Down In The Hole"!!!!

marko Most of the bands youīve listed,i never heard of....
I really donīt listen modern rock music,i find it very
boring and not very imaginative. Most are just copycats.
They even pose like beatles did 40years ago.
In my opinion, you can find your own way,if you really want
to,but bands,record companies,they just want replacement
for stones,zep,bowie,young,dylan etc........
Theres nothing from their own hearts,if they hit one good
song.Thats end of the story.
There are couple i listen, not very young bands in modern
scale.
Kent swedish rock band
Type O negative(not a new band)

thats all really,,,i find modern music very boring.

Christ Almighty... How do you fucking know if someone plays "from the heart" or not if you've already dismissed them before ever even bothering to hear them?
And there are aritsts that exist outside record company labels or nostalgic throwbacks. Not that you bothered to find that out yourself.

PS: I always crack up at the "modern" and "classic" division. Just shows how narrowly some people see music.

You are 100% correct as usual...are there any Taylor Era boots that I am missing?
11th August 2006 04:12 PM
marko I donīt think theres any you really miss, maybe outtakes?
Sir SS knows some good bands,(new ones even),but here in
Finland,i donīt have time,or possibilty to look for them.
Mostly mainstream pop-rock genre.SS played last i was there
few good records.Still a bit copycat. But lot better than
the shit they play on the radio.
