Settle down, Beavis. I know this day has been hard on you guys. You could deny that the Stones are calling you an ass when it was just me talking about it, but man, when Sean Hannity gets in the game, that's serious.

So, if they play "Sweet NeoCon" at the opener, will you boo? Or run to the bathroom so you can pretend you didn't hear it? Or what?

I just gots to know! How you gonna manage this? Hell, this "issue" has you guys so mixed up that Maxy is agreeing with JB!!! The tour is a bust!

The FUNNIEST thing about all of this is that you guys are taking the stance that the Stones SHOULD be worrying about how much money they'll make, and NOT the music. Isn't that actually backwards from what everyone here (except of course JB) usually thinks?

And all of you are 100% agreed that Mick doesn't REALLY mean it. It's just a marketing ploy!! So - he shouldn't have done it because it's bad business - but he wrote it simply because the market will eat it up...wha???

As far as getting one right, THIS is one I've had right from the start. Rightwing Stones fans make NO sense! Before you trot out your cliched retorts, I didn't say you weren't allowed to like them - just that it makes no sense. Here's one Mick agrees with me on.

Relax Butthead. As usual you are batting 100% as far as missing the point

They could call the song "John Kerry is a spinless lying weasel" and I would feel the same way

As I stated in my post which you ignored-the half ass way the tickets were sold, album not out before the tour starts, weak lead song in SOL, confusion on what is actually released so far

And now Mick wants to make some political statement on top of all the mishaps and confusion

I want the tour to start with good album and good promotion - not mass confusion.

But if you feel this song will put you libs back in power have at it and sing along

Terrible marketing

Riffhard I'm a conservative, and a Stones' fan! You gotta problem with that?! Well then fuck right off. I could give two shits about Jagger's politics,or anyone else's on this goddamnmed board's either. I am a firm believer that Islamic radical fucks want the 8th century law of shariah practiced worldwide. I am a firm believer that whaibisim (sp?) as spelled out by radical fucks like UBL,and his ilk would have everyone on this board dead. Liberal, conservative, democrat, republican, tory, etc. it matters not to them. They want YOU dead! They want your kids dead! That's not some radical rightwing hyperbole jack! That's a fact! Go to any of the Islammic websites and read it yourselves. I did. I say fuck em!

Shit,in the UK the oh so polically correct mindset allowed these radical fucks get away with preaching their brand of hate. Now fast forward to 7/11 and 7/21,and Blair is finally cracking down on these butchers. Good for him.

Hey Riffy, but, but, but Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of 9/11/01 in the USA. Yeah, whatever. Bullshit. We know damned good and well that Saddam's goverment met with al qaeda at least three times in the Suddan. Abu Abbas made Baghdad his residence for over five years prior to the war. He was put up in luxury by Saddam himself. That's a fact. But,hey just for the sake of argument let's say that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of 9/11. Big fucking deal! They sure as fuck had something to do with the first attack on the WTC. This is one of the main reasons that Clinton drew up the "Iraqi Liberation Act" of 1998. You remember that one don't you libs? That's when Clinton stated that the USA should, and would depose of Saddam. Funny the entire fucking left agreed when Clinton said it,but, putting politics above everything(as they always do) when Bush actully has the balls to carry it out these fucking lying libs seem to forget all about it!

Germany had nothing to do with Pearl Harbour either fellas!

I'm glad that that murdering psycopath has been deposed, and I'm glad that not one major attack has been perpetrated on US soil since 9/11. By the way, under Clinton the US,and our intersts over seas were hit on an average three times a year during his eight years of frat parties in the White House.

Geesh,I'm so glad that Europe had the backbone to take the moral high road with regards to the Iraq War. Oopps! I guess that whole little Oil for Food Scandal kinda proved where the loyalties realy were. Moral highground? ROTFLMAO!!! Bush knows that these fucks are murderers and he could care less if the loony left types hate him for it. I feel exactly the same fucking way!

ACLU sues NY City because of random bag checks, and threaten to sue for profiling. Whose fucking side is the ACLU on anyway?! So we can't profile,AND we can't carry out radom checks?! WTF! The ACLU will sue the US for the rights of terrorists though! This is why I hate the liberal mindset. It is brain dead.

Ain't politics fun on a Rolling Stones message board?! Pretty stupid place to bring this shit up,huh?

I think so to! So why not go to www.opinionatedjerks.com and discuss it there.

Quite obviously the POINT of my rant went right over your head jizzy. Did my post change your mind about Bush? Ofcourse not! Nor will any of your Bush bashing posts change my mind. That's my point. I ranted about something that I firmly believe, but this is not the forum for it. It goes to show just how stupid it is to bring something so divisive as poltics up on a Rolling Stones message board. Take a look at the Tell Me board. Look at the Gasx3 board. Every time politics is brought up the shit hits the fan,and people get down right nasty about it. I dare say that as Stones' fans we'd all most likely get along with each other. Throw politics into the mix,and all bets are off. So why do it?

That's why I posted the link to a political board. My rant, that I believe in with every fiber of my being,is misplaced on a Stones message board. So are all the Bush sucks rants.

Ten Thousand Motels BILSON SLAMS BUSH

THE OC star RACHEL BILSON has slammed US President GEORGE W BUSH's Iraq policy and urges voters to turn against the Republicans in the next election.

The Democrat actress, 23, is disgusted Bush won the 2004 election and even resorted to using her celebrity status to try to dissuade voters from supporting his pro-war administration.

She says, "I am very against the Republican state of mind that our country is in. I've always voted, but I've become more passionate about politics the more I've learned about it.

"I got involved at the last election because of what was going on in Iraq. I also thought if I could make any difference with the small amount of celebrity I have, then it was important to do that.

"We all know how it turned out, but I tried. At least I didn't just sit there and do nothing."

time is on my side The post below was posted this afternoon and was promptly ignored by everyone. I'm posting it again here because it echoes what you just got through saying. My guess is that it will continue to be ignored

I've got some half cocked opinions of my own when it comes to world affairs. I've even posted them on this site before. If you want, I could dig through the archives and paste them here on this thread. Since nobody's interested, I won't bother. Which is the point. Nobody really cares about the political points of view expressed on this board. I've never known anyone's opinion, point of view, or mind to change because of arguments expressed in threads like these. In fact, if I dig through the archives, I'm sure I'll find the same people expressing the same arguments with almost identically worded postings in bygone threads that nobody remembers or cares about anymore. If someone is pro Bush, my guess is they're going to remain pro Bush. If someone is anti Bush, yeah they're going to remain anti Bush.

The only thing I care about, IS THE MUSIC. IS THE NEW ALBUM ANY GOOD??? If neo-con rocks and is a good song, then I'm for it. If it sucks then I'm against it. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC BABY. As far as I'm concerned, Jagger can say what he wants.

Taptrick I don't care if Mick is shoving mars bars up Faithfull's ass (maybe he did or maybe...) or writing a song called Sweet Neocon, the publicity and controversy is entertaining. I do find misplaced logic in some of the posts I see insinuating that Bush's military action against Iraq is a new idea. There were multiple military operations in Southwest Asia carried out or started in the Clinton Administration: Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Provide Comfort, Provide Comfort II, Maritime Intercept operations, Desert Falcon, Iris Gold, Desert Spring, Intrinsic Action, Vigilent Sentinel, Vigilant Warrior, Desert Focus, Silent Assurance, Phoenix Scorpion I, Phoenix Scorpion II, Phoenix Scorpion III, Phoenix Scorpion IV, Shining Presence, Desert Fox, Desert Viper, Desert Thunder, Desert Strike, Cruise Missle Strikes 13 Jan 93, Cruise Missle Strikes 26 Jun 93, plus many others. Of course those had nothing to do with oil? Oh right, only if you were involved with the UN, European Allied partners of Iraq, or just simply had an appointment with Sadaam to receive vouchers. Then it had everything to do with oil. The Clinton Administration also initiated the military operations Provide Promise, Determined Guard, Decisive Enhancement, Sharp Guard, Maritime Guard, Maritime Monitor, Sky Monitor, Deliberate Forge, Decisive Guard, Decisive Endeavor, Deny Flight, Able Sentry, Nomad Endeavor, Nomad Vigil, Quick Lift, Deliberate Force, Joint Forge, Joint Guard, Joint Endeavor, Determined Effort, Determined Falcon, Eagle Eye, Determined Force, and Allied Force, among others in the former Yugoslavia and Kosovo (in addition to bombing some questionable African tragets). Bush took it even further and like him or not he's going to be slammed by some. Possibly even by people I call friends. But conservative or liberal or republican or democrat or socialist...none of it changes my appreciation of the Stones. I look at it like this...I loved Dylan's song Hurricane. But I also have come to believe Rueben Carter committed that murder...but it doesn't affect my appreciation for the song. I think most people become tied to a song for the emotional associations of the song. I still like Hurricane because it reminds me of grade school and hockey practice and driving in the car with my dad and...well just the 70s. I hope to appreciate Neocon for the memories it may provide in the future about this board, the Bigger Bang album, and these times when everyone was so wraped in political associations to the point of dismissing opinions because of associations. Let's rock.

Brainbell Jangler What a remarkable process! This thread started with an apparent conservative fretting that the controversy around "Sweet Neo-Con" would hurt album and ticket sales. The usual crowd of reactionaries piles on. The assumption that these right-wing attacks will hurt the Stones is soundly refuted. Then the reactionaries complain about a political discussion which they started. Astonishing!

There were far too many fallacious arguments made to address them all, but one stands out. Maxlugar asserted that the Stones risked alienating "51% of their fan base" by speaking truth to neo-con power. The fallacy of this claim should be apparent. Maxy assumes that Stones fans are evenly distributed across the political spectrum. This is almost certainly false. Clearly, most conservative evangelicals are not Stones fans. The Stones have always represented a radical anti-Establishment, anti-authoritarian stance. A handful of reactionaries may be able to ignore this fact, but most of us whose weltanschauung was formed before the Reagan dark ages understand what the Stones are really all about.

The problem with these discussions, of course, is the so-called "false consensus phenomenon." This refers to the fact that less intelligent people tend not to recognize their lack of intelligence, instead assuming that they are "just as smart" as their intellectual superiors (hence, false consensus). This appears to be the only plausible explanation for the brainless attacks on Fleabit Peanut Monkey C10, who is clearly head and shoulders above his detractors in the brainpower department.
