Martha I've been reading the entries to Sir Stonesy's contest and while they are all great and over the top creative, imho, Keep Rigid, yours just blew me away. Hope the judge had the same reaction, if so, you got it.

TheSavageYoungXyzzy Gahhahahaha!

I love these... I'm going to post them on my door... Keep, tell Dirty Work I'm sending Mick Taylor to steal its lunch money!

On a related note... It's in the player now. I don't think it's their worst album anymore... that's either Black & Blue or Undercover... well, maybe not Undercover... Satanic Majesties, probably. "Don't Hold Back" is passable, well played, a fun little number, but forgettable, like "Wanna Hold You". "Fight"'s ok, too, still have trouble with "Harlem Shuffle", can't stand "Too Rude", "Winning Ugly" or *gaggg* "Back To Zero". "Dirty Work"s alright, "Had It With You"'s fine, "Sleep Tonight" just doesn't cut it... sorry, Keith. The best song and the only real classic on here is "One Hit (To The Body)", with the once and future session musician Jimmy Page.

But I don't think it's their worst anymore. Mick's singing is quite good, very menacing, very fed up - guess we know why... the overall energy of the album, that menace, is great, but it just gets covered in that slimy eighties style. I think this one suffers because it tries to sound like a harder "Exile" mixed with Mick's new eighties sound and they just don't mix. So it's risen from wax better used for waxing floors to a regrettable mistake that produced some interesting sounds amidst a sea of clunkers.

So it goes up to a 6.2 in my book, up from 4.8, the first arbitrary number I assigned it.

And it's all your fault, contest.

Keep - what were those songs that got left off your maligned comrade? How do they sound? Got a boot they're on?

-tSYX --- So help me gawd!
*edit*
Avatar test, thanks, Voodoo!

gypsy Oh, my Christ! I just read one of the entries, and could not breathe because I was laughing so hard!!! I will not divulge which entry, as it may hinder the contestant's chances of winning.

Maxlugar "Mick's singing is quite good, very menacing, very fed up - guess we know why... the overall energy of the album, that menace, is great"

Xyzzy,

Your eyes are starting to open. The world is getting clearer.

Now, see this pocket watch? I'm going to dangle it from it's chain for a minute here and let it sway back and forth like a pendulum. Keep your eyes on it and take some nice deep breaths for me. Relax. Relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxx....

Are you in a nice place? Yeah.... No one can hurt you now Xyzzy.

Ok. Now repeat after me: "Dirty work roooocckkss....Dirty Work roooooooooocccccckkkkkkkkssssssssssssssssss..."

Very good.

Xyzzy, when I count to three you will sing the praises of this MENACING album by the worlds greatest rock and roll band. You will join the dark side with Maxy. Ok now, here we go...

One...

Two...

Three...

WAKE UP!

(It's a shame I have to do these things)

Bye,

Maxy!
08-09-02 09:38 AM
Sir Stonesalot Very Nice...so far.

Maxy...SS The Insult Comic Dog is on the trail of your scent. Be very careful.

This contest will end sometime this evening.

BTW, Martha....you are not a judge, and trying to sway popular opinion will not work in this contest. In fact, it has probably had the opposite affect. SS is a leader, not a follower...and individual, not a conformist...a dog, not a cat. Uhhhhh, forget that last one there...I have no idea what that was supposed to mean.
08-09-02 10:55 AM
Maxlugar "Maxy...SS The Insult Comic Dog is on the trail of your scent. Be very careful."

Get him Xyzzy!

Tell him where he can stick this particular contest!!

Make your Dark Lord Ragul-Xam proud!!!

Xyzzy? Xyzzy?

Damn!

Grght... dirrrrrtyworrrkroc... waitaminute!

Your mind tricks will not work on me, boy! Not even running around bare-chested with that guitar of yours! My Ronnie shakes its bum at you!

I'm not a good one to call for if you need someone sicked. Teenagers are like *ahem* certain sections afflicted by Viagra - they're up for about an hour, and then you can't get 'em up for the life of you.

Try again during normal business hours - sometime between 11 pm and 1 am, Dark lord Ragul-Xam-y.

Still hate "Harlem Shuffle". But not as much as "Undercover".

-tSYX --- And I did not know his name, no I did not know his name, but waved his watch at me, he laughed and called himself Maxy...
08-09-02 12:24 PM
Soul Survivor Sir Stonesalot, great contest. I tried my hardest and I wanna say good job to whoever wins
08-09-02 01:57 PM
gypsy SS, don't be mean to Martha!
Let me just add that I don't care for the way you run your contests...it's blatantly obvious that you don't like KeepRigid...perhaps it is because you cannot match his wit! On the other hand, it could be because KeepRigid is not a chick...
08-09-02 02:15 PM
Maxlugar Real Stones fans don't do anything to ANY Stones album but rock to it.

08-09-02 02:42 PM
Scot Rocks I like quite Dirty Work but those 2 songs, Winning Ugly, Back to Zero are awful so my suggestion - Use the discs to replace the break discs on the Oasis Touring Vehicle...

"...the other side is screaming and we're winnning, winning ugly!!!!

Cheers

Mark

Sir Stonesalot Oh, boo-hoo. gypsy doesn't like my judging. I'm crushed.

I guess you forgot that Keep actually WON one of my contests....as did YOU....it ain't my problem that he gave his prize to another woman....and let me see, if I remember right, that other woman wasn't YOU. Wonder if he eventually scored with her like he was trying to do...behind your back, I might add.

And Martha is a big girl...I think she can handle anything I said to her.

BTW, you had it until you brought in a midget. Those little fuckers give me the creeps.
08-09-02 03:06 PM
Soul Survivor I'm so nervous I wanna win so bad!
08-09-02 04:19 PM
KeepRigid Thank you, Martha, you are very kind.

And bless you, gypsy- my rock...my roll...my muse. (Look, everybody! It's mushy ol' Keep!)

"if I remember right, that other woman wasn't YOU. Wonder if he eventually scored with her like he was trying to do..."

Now Cardy, surely you are well-versed enough in the art of love to realize what a lame attempt that would've been. Why try to kiss some girl's ass with a thoughtless gift, when you can instead take the opportunity to show her how sweet you are?

Damn, I'm lucky to have a lawyer that knows just about practically EVERYTHING in the whole wide world!!!!

He is the bestest!!!!!

[Edited by KeepRigid]
08-09-02 04:35 PM
TheSavageYoungXyzzy Speaking of which... where's your lawyer been these days, Keep? Our pointless little debate over Ronnie's gone on for four pages - we could use his legal knowledge. I haven't seen him for ages - then again, I was away for ages.

Or is he, like all the other lawyers, on vacation? Or is he like Tom Hagen in the Godfather - has one client only?

-tSYX --- Like a thieeeeeeeeef in the niiiiight,,,

I would be delighted and honored to attend...and thanks for your words in my defense. You rock!

SS....midgets certainly shouldn't freak out the likes of you...you seem to have very thick skin..or is that all a front? Or have you had a bad experience?

Keep...I spoke from my first reaction...I really was totally blown away be your entry..if my posting that causes you to loose I trust you can depend on your legal team to begin the long drawn out litigation. I will be ready to go on the stand, just let me know.

blond, tanned and still blown away,

parmeda In the spirit of SS's contest, and after reading the posts, I'd like to tell you what I'd do to Dirty Work.
If we could turn the clock back...let's say about a year ago, when the illustrious C10 gathered together...I'd make sure SS had a video camera in hand as Maxy was tied to a tree, way out in the woods. Someone would take a copy of Dirty Work and duck tape it to Maxy's bare chest. (Max, please forgive me for this. But you seem to be the only bleeding heart on this issue...) The 8 remaining C10's would then, well...you know...start the "circle jerk" thing they've all recently been accused of doing in the first place on a different thread! (Naturally, and I don't need to draw any pictures here...we know where they'd all be aiming.) And, as usual, SS would capture every second on tape. Such a perfectionist he is when it comes to documenting authenticity at it's best!

08-09-02 09:31 PM
Sir Stonesalot The contest is now officially over.

Pam.....EEEEWWWWWWWWW!!! You DEFINATELY lose!

I have decided to award 2 first prizes. It's my contest, and I can do whatever I want.

So the winner of the Ladies and Gentlemen soundtrack is....MARTHA!

Why?

Beacause I said so, and because she didn't even try to win. Gotta admire that! Oh, and the midget thing goes back to the Wizard of Oz. I fucking HATED those little bastards...stupid damn "follow the yellow brick road" shit! They are like little bugs or something...just creepy, man.

I've decided to award a second first place prize...because I still happen to have the prize from last contest left over...the winner schmoozed me into giving him something else...so a copy of Steel Wheels Tokyo(this is one of my personal faves...)goes to Soul Survivor.

Why? Because it sounded like SoSu was gonna blow a gasket in nervous anticipation....

So Martha and Soul Survivor...private message me with where to send the discs.

Congratulations and enjoy!

To the rest of you...thanks for playing...there was some really good stuff out there...including Keeps little story...great stuff, but I gotta spread the wealth around a little more before I start repeating winners. Still, I hope you all had fun...and better luck next time!
08-09-02 10:12 PM
Martha Well..I was blown away earlier in this thread and now I am UTTERLY SPEECHLESS...(that is now that I've screamed several times and my heart has begun to pound in my ears..and I lost all ability to think straight..or type well I might add) upon reading that I co-won this contest. All I can say is I'm amazed, and humbled..not to the level of midgetness don't worry...and THRILLED outta my mind (what is left of it)!

I flash to the episode of the Simpson's when Flanders was the devil and when Homer realized it and said that to him Flanders answered, "It's always the one you least expect". I love that line...even moreso tonight. Yoohoo!

Now I'm speechless.

peace, love, goodwill and more tanning and blondess to everyone who desires it,
Martha Simpson

08-09-02 10:21 PM
Soul Survivor I'm with Martha.........speechless.

I didn't think I would actually win!

More good for ya when you do, right? Congrats, the bothaya!

-tSYX --- Oh yeah! All right! Suck on the Ronnie-lar! Wait - no. Don't. That's just not right.
08-09-02 11:09 PM
gypsy Yay for Martha! You rock! And, Keep and I had decided quite some time ago that you and Dandelion* would definitely be prime candidates for bridesmaids when we tie the proverbial knot...
08-09-02 11:13 PM
KeepRigid "Speaking of which... where's your lawyer been these days, Keep? Our pointless little debate over Ronnie's gone on for four pages - we could use his legal knowledge."

He has two clients, but with all the corporate going-ons in the news, he's been keeping a pretty low-profile of late.

As for your previous question, those are just three of my favorite outtakes from the sessions.

Strictly Memphis - funky duet between Mick and Bobby Womack

What Are You Gonna Do With My Love - a nice little group effort, basically just the mantra, "What am I supposed to do...with your love?" for over five minutes, but really nice.

You're Too Much - Keith song, but tried for a few albums w/Mick also (I believe). Features a backup chorus that perfectly captures- to use your Godfather frame of mind- what's it like to get hit by 'the Thunderbolt'.
08-09-02 11:18 PM
parmeda Congrats to Martha & Soul Survivor!
Stonesalot is a generous man...and hopefully a forgiving one, lol.

In honor of your victories, I hope that the two of you have pulled out your Dirty Work's and have them blaring through your stereos as we speak...Good for you guys!

SS...this was fun, thanks.
08-09-02 11:23 PM
KeepRigid "Keep...I spoke from my first reaction...I really was totally blown away be your entry..if my posting that causes you to lose I trust you can depend on your legal team to begin the long drawn out litigation."

You're very sweet, Martha. Congrats to both you and Soul Survivor on your victory. I don't think Cardy actually thinks I take any of this seriously, I just enjoy playing along and always figure I'll give the prize away, in the event.

"I will be ready to go on the stand, just let me know."

Still, I'm pretty sure my lawyer will want you to "go on the stand", just to be safe. He just loves 'long, drawn out litigations'.

"blond, tanned and still blown away"

Oh yeah, you'll be getting subpoenaed.
08-09-02 11:28 PM
gypsy Keep! Here you are, roaming the boards, while I'm stuck at home with your lawyer, who keeps taking BabyRigid to McDonalds. He is trying to get in on those class-action lawsuits against all of the fast food restaraunts. Please come home immediately!

KeepRigid "Oh, and the midget thing goes back to the Wizard of Oz."

Why.

Why for the second time today, do I find myself defending the big watch?
08-09-02 11:36 PM
KeepRigid "Keep! Here you are, roaming the boards"

Okay, and why are YOU posting, rather than getting ready to go out and celebrate Keep's loss?
