The Kinks’ founding member Ray Davies is set to be honoured with a prestigious Icon Award.

The gong comes from the US performing rights organisation Broadcast Music Inc. and is given to artists and songwriters who are seen to have influenced a generation of music makers.

Past British winners of the award include Van Morrison and Steve Winwood, while James Brown has also won in the Urban category.

The 2006 ceremony is to be held at London’s Dorchester Hotel on October 3.

I was thinking more along the lines of, to paraphrase Frank Zappa, Josh wouldn't know good rock music if it bit him in the ass.
