Gazza Van lived in the Bay area for several years in the 70's

hopefully he'll use the occasion persuade the Stones to play his REAL hometown next year for the first time in over four decades

10th August 2006 06:44 PM

10th August 2006 06:46 PM
glencar I saw him in NYC about 10 years ago. Van sang but the guy with long black hair sang twice as much. I think Van was possibly blitzed.

hes a fucking curmudgeon, to put it mildly.

Whilst he's well respected here for his music and career achievements, it would be a serious stretch to say that he's actually liked.

Brian Kennedy, I would assume youre talking about (he's also from Belfast). They did a lot of work together around that time.

Would that have been the Bob Dylan/Van Morrison double-header at Madison Square Garden Theatre in early '98?

Nellcote I think George Steinbrenner comes to mind as more of an apt description of "Van The Man". Crusty old kodger.
He is a great buddy of Peter Wolf, who had him on his radio show in the 70's, and actually put him up at his apartment in Bahston, while Van was performing here. NO ONE in NYC would ever have that type of hospitality, right GC?

Nellcote But Of Course, George is the best, he fronts the best lineup in baseball.
We were strategizing tailgate for 09/20 in my office today.
Only 40 days away!
We are going down the night before for the sound check!
Peter Wolf will be there, he's Mick's ambassador in Bahston.
I wish it was 2-nite!

Or possibly put those fans to sleep. I sure hope we aren't subjected to another duet from Mick and Dave.
