thankfully Egor uncovered that gem buried in the back of the vault earlier today

if I told him once, I've told him a thousand times: the "Sammy In The Agave Patch" material needs to be dusted off and ready to roll at all times!!!

Sure, Egor's a humped back idiot, but I dont know what I'd do without him. I'd be lost. Just keeping track of the "Sammy in silly patriotic pajamas" photos is a full-time job. But Egor's hardworking and works cheaper than most Guatamalans.

Egor just asked me "Is this Eddie?"

Gazza,

Mick has never had a problem singing falsetto? His higher pitched vocal tones have remained strong till this day. Look at 2002-03 Licks when people used to say the same thing ....until he belted out a great vocal falsetto performance in Worried About You without a hitch.

Why they never chose to do that one is a mysterty but Mick surely can still falsetto.

Yeah and I don't think they ever will. Keith hates that song. I've heard him make fun of it, and if you check the lineup for that song Keith is not even on it. It's a complete Mick work, and I doubt Keith would ever give in and let Mick play it.

Truth.

I'm thinking we should have some Emotional Rescue theme shows on the Licks tour.

She's So Cold
Send It To Me
Summer Romance
Dance

That's a killer segment.

Jumacfly Emotional rescue should be played on B stage , I mean the entire album!!
I agree with Sway, this record IS the jewel of their catalogue!!!
plus the song is fantastic and got one of the best bass line ever performed on a Stones record.
plus ER is THE summer Stones album for weeding or boozing with friends!
2nd August 2007 07:47 AM
corgi37 Only decent song on it is Down in the hole. Even She's so cold wimps out towards the end. And, whats with the solo on SSC? Weak, weak, weak.

wyman's bass on ER is outstanding and FUNKY -
it's one of those performances where i realize how good wyman could be.

Texile,

As somebody pointed out upthread, That's Ronnie Wood on Bass on "Emotional Rescue".

Corgi,

I almost think it's blasphemy to slag She's So Cold!

No. He screams it when he sings in a high voice to cover up the fact that his vocal range (understandably) is not what it was 25 years ago. Not that theres anything wrong with that, but if you think he's still 'singing' falsetto effortlessly, then you're just not listening. Like any singer does when his vocal range becomes more limited with age or wear and tear,he adapts his phrasing accordingly.

"Emotional Rescue" would be an even harder song for him to pull off at this stage because more of the song is sung in a high register than is the case for Worried About You (and secondly, without having the sheet music in front of me, I would imagine that it not only requires higher notes but quite possibly more key changes and a greater vocal range )

nankerphelge And even if he could manage to pull it off, the risk of straining his voice and having to cancel shows until it heals -- just not worth it.

Besides folks...lest we forget...the song sucks!

no wonder it's so funky -
oh well, there goes my wyman theory.
i previously had the same reaction to the bass on tumbling dice and found out it was taylor...i think.
