_Boomy_ You are correct. This does not bring in the "kids". Can you imagine some 16-year-old garage band guys saying "Dude, that money we saved up, we're gonna see the Stones. I heard the Ying Yang Twins are gonna open up. That would be crunk, yo"?

I can't.

I knew you would all be excited over that one.

Yuck!

I'm surprised they didn't ask Britney Spears to just belch and fart her way through "oops, I did it again".

Saint Sway I predict very long beer lines during Kanye's set

They might not even get the kids if the tickies were $50.00

Another good point.

The Stones themselves should bring in the kids, not opening groups.

Maybe if it were in a smaller venue perhaps.

Kids don't seem to be attracted to smaller venues for some reason, I surely can't imagine kids liking a show with a setlist that isn't 80 - 90% warhorses because most don't know the material.

glencar That's dangerously near Pug territory, pdog!

"Tell me what it was like when the Rolling Stones were cool."

"... words can't describe it son, sorry."

"What's this song they're playing now?"

"Uh, I think it's called Streets of Love."

"It's kinda sucky, Dad"

"I know boy,... I know."

luxury1 ....but didnt most of "us hardcores" react thusly when Mick picked Prince to open, way back when?? I can proudly say I was diggin' Prince then, and also thought Jamiroqui (OK, so I cant spell it) was a hot opening act--in Europe only, I believe??. Gazza will correct me, and put all the proper dates in place here.......

Only Stones opener I enjoyed was George Thorogood in 1981... I can't remember anyone up until Metallica last year getting my attention for more than two minutes!
3rd August 2006 04:41 PM
glencar jamiroqui also opened in Vegas in 1997.

oh please. A band called "Metrics" opened at MSG. As in Madison Square Garden - "the worlds most famous arena" in the worlds greatest city opening for "The Worlds Greatest Rock & Roll Band"

Metrics hardly seemed like the appropriate choice

and before that in sept. it was Allanis...
If they get bands like Metallica to open in SF, to sell tickets, in NYC Allanis must be D-list, since tickets sold there much faster!

and alanis never once looked up at the crowd!
all she did was pace back and forth across the stage looking downward. funny as she did same thing on jimmy kimmel a week or two before sept show at msg... all she did was look down while responding to jimmys banter.
