Fans already queued at Downsview

CANADIAN PRESS

Fans are already lining up today outside the massive site of the Rolling
Stones' SARS benefit concert at Downsview Park, more than 24 hours
before the all-day music festival is to begin.

About a dozen people are camped outsides one of three gates, some
draped in Canadian flags.

Inside the Park, a large sign emblazoned with the word Toronto in giant red
letters hung over the concert stage, the middle "o" replaced with a picture of
the Stones' trademark tongue logo.

The Rolling Stones' production director said the band was looking forward
to the show, which he promised would be huge.

"We're going to be over the size of Woodstock," Jake Berry said at a sunny outdoors news conference in front
of the stage.

However, Woodstock was planned in a year, he noted.

"We're Woodstock in a month," he joked.

Up to 450,000 people are expected to attend the all-day concert, aimed at boosting Toronto's economy in the
wake of the SARS outbreaks.

Headline act Rolling Stones arrived in Toronto on Monday night before being whisked to their downtown
hotel.

Other acts include Justin Timberlake, AC/DC, the Guess Who, Flaming Lips, Rush, Blue Rodeo, the Tea
Party, Sass Jordan and Isley Brothers.

This is a little different as you're in a field that's 325 hectares (about the size of 398 'American' football fields) in size with your blanket. Not like your buddy can cross the street for a danish and a Mountain Dew. Not up my creek.

What I'd like to know is..these people that dash for the stage for a good seat, or 1.5 sqft of standing room..once you need beer, food or need to use the washroom, you'll never get back in (let alone out).

Ain't that the truth.

With a concert like this one, you have to win ugly...
