winter One more thought. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong (and I am sure you will), but I don't think we can attribute the pricing of the packages to greed on the part of the Stones themselves (at least not directly). It's my understanding that with the promotion by e-trade, etc., the cash to be received by the Stones for the tour (not including merchandising)is fixed and guaranteed upfront. The promoters take the risk on ticket sales and pricing. So whether the VIP packages go for $50 or $50,000, it doesn't change the economics for Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie.

I understand that what the Stones demand ultimately impacts the price to the public, as the promoters need to cover their cost and get a reasonable return based upon the risk (if there is any risk with a Stones tour), my only point is that the Stones themsleves (and their management) might not be involved in pricing the packages.

Any thoughts?

scope I think what you say makes sense and could be quite true. The point I would add is that everyone, the Stones included, are taking into consideration the typical target market. I know that there is some young blood out there and many are a part of this board, but they are assuming that the majority of the 'older' fans have the bucks to spend and will pay whatever the amount to see the Stones perhaps 1 more time. You can argue that the Stones longevity has earned them the right to charge more than the flash in the pan artists that are around these days, but just how much a premium we should be paying is the point.

Riffhard I think to a degree your right winter.Ofcourse, the Stones do set their own price and the promoters and Ticketbastard gauge their profits accordingly. The fact is they are all greedy basards,Stones included, but at least the Stones work for it night in night out.

Also we are dealing with capitalism here,so it's all about supply and demand. If they(promoters/Ticketbastard)didn't think people would fork over $2,400.00 for the package they wouldn't ask.The f'ed up thing about it is the only type folks who are willing to dump that kind of cash are disposable income types,ie;Trump's kid and the rich part time/tour fans.

The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
