VoodooChileInWOnderl Gazza thanks a lot for this news! I like it!!!!

Couldn't resist

... John plays a song "Mexico City" and Mick Taylor "Down to Mexico" and Goin' South (a'la and dedicated to Carlos Santana) so they MUST play here this year after all here Mick had the biggest, the most enthusiastic audience and it was the show at the highest price.

Thanks Gazza ..................this gig will be a " must see " .
July 6th, 2004 05:17 PM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Mick will be playing with The Bluesbreakers the whole show, probably replacing Buddy Whittington or maybe both together (the kicked serious ass together at Johns 70th)

The opening band for the summer tour is a big surprise, a 13 years old virtuso guitar player Eric Steckel, an amazing player according to many serious sources, you know John wont be sharing the same stage with a pop teenager, this is a great player and only 13, Mick started with the bluesbreakers at 17, this is now opening for him at 13!

British Blues Legends John Mayall, Stan Webb and Mick Taylor join forces on a musical bill that promises blues at its very finest * it just doesn*t get better than this.

Since forming the now legendary Bluesbreakers in 1963, John Mayall has been regarded as one of the most influential UK Blues men ever and has been awarded the accolade of the Godfather of British blues.

His former side men include ERIC CLAPTON, MICK FLEETWOOD, JOHN MCVIE, PETER GREEN and MICK TAYLOR. With over 45 albums to his credit, John Mayall remains as compelling and original an artist as ever and, when it comes to the blues, Mayall is without doubt No. 1.

Stan Webb's dynamic guitar style and huge stage presence have made Chicken Shack a firm favourite with rock and blues fans everywhere. Their first two albums "40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed And Ready To Go" and "O.K. Ken" stormed into the top twenty in the late sixties, whilst the singles "When The Train Comes Back" and "Tears In The Wind* spent a combined 19 weeks in the top thirty.

Throughout an acclaimed career Stan Webb has played and recorded with the very best, including, STEVIE WONDER, HOWLING WOLF, TAJ MAHAL, CANNED HEAT and PETER GREEN. Stan Webb and Chicken Shack show no sign of slowing down, continually touring the U.K. and Europe to packed houses and rave reviews.

Mick Taylor began his career at the age of 17 when, following in the footsteps of Eric Clapton and Peter Green, became lead guitarist for John Mayall*s Bluesbreakers. After touring extensively and featuring on 5 album, Mick left to join the Rolling Stones where his contributions can be heard on six years of Stones* albums including classics such as "Let it Bleed", "Sticky Fingers", "It's Only Rock n Roll". "Goat's Head Soup" and "Exile on Main Street"

Since leaving the Stones, Mick released a string of solo albums and continues to collaborate with a host of world-class musicians.

British Blues really doesn't get better than this!

T&A I think the assumption here is that MT is joining the Bluesbreakers for this tour, right? But, I think the way this is being billed leaves open the interpretation that MT (and his band) are also on the bill as a separate act. Thoughts?
July 16th, 2004 05:48 PM
Gazza My understanding is that Taylor is playing as a guest guitarist on this tour with the Bluesbreakers and is NOT performing with his own band as a separate act, although I can understand the confusion going by the press release and the tour flyer.

Taylor playing separately would mean three acts on the bill every night, including Chicken Shack, which I would find improbable and a financial non-starter as far as the tour is concerned, especially as these venues are all relatively small theatres.

I asked Bjornulf from IORR about this and he thinks the same. Hope that's of some use.

VoodooChileInWOnderl Yes, Gazza it will be the bluesbreakers with Mick Taylor, we're on our way to book them
