Saint Sway funny!!

is this the "all-star" band with Shiela E, Billy Squier and Richard Marx that you were boasting about before?

hilarious! Ringo has no clout!

Sheila E is HOT and one hell of a drummer.

Whats "clout" got to with it? He put together a fun and enjoyable show, that everyone there seemed to like, even if the music snobs don't get it.
27th July 2006 04:02 PM
Saint Sway clout has everything to do with it. He's a Beatle. Rock royalty. He should be able to assemble a better band with more taleted musicians than Richard Marx.

if you think that a band made up of Sheila E, Richard Marx and Billy Squier and some other has-been hacks is good, than you're an idiot.

and I'm not saying that as a music snob. Even the hot dog vendor on the corner knows Richard Marx blows.

Nellcote Ringo certainly understood his pecking order with Old Macca, when about a year ago, at "Live 8" Macca did not have the stones to bring Ringo out on stage in those Magical Mystery Outfits, instead shlepping out Bono (I'm right Pug, no?) to lead off the festivities. While Ringo does not have the clout, he certainly gets the royal shaft from Sir Macca on every occasion possible.
I heard Billy Squire saved the day in Bahston, although I do not know if he played "The Stroke" (see George Michael)

I don't even have the first clue who he is but there wasn't any discernable lack of talent from where I was sitting. Didn't recognize the 2 songs he did, neither good or bad.

"some other has-been hacks" is quite ironic coming from a Black Crowes fan.

I am not surprised you take your cues from the corner hot dog guy.

hacks???

at least they're not reduced to playing in Ringos band with Sheena Easton.

listen, every shmuck in that band sucks. Including Ringo. But the hot dog vendor says that if you cant figure that out on your own then you are beyond help.

no point arguing with someone that thinks Billy Squier is cool

Not yet, would be interesting to see whats in the cards now after their failed attempt to move beyond the clubs. And Ringo only hires people who have their own hits which excludes cover bands. And WTF is Sheena Easton?

Ringo, Billy Squire, Sheila E, Rod Argent and Edgar Winter collectively have enough good songs for a 2 1/2 hour show. Only a moron who follows the fourth coming of the Allman Brothers wouldn't recognize that.

Setlist at the link above. "Frankenstein" was my favorite song of the night and was never even much of a fan of it til I saw it live.

It wasn't played.
27th July 2006 04:59 PM
glencar Ringo can't sing a tune but it looks like those shows are fun.
27th July 2006 05:02 PM
Saint Sway Dan, I cant open the link. Please post the list of "good" songs.

Frankenstein. WTF is that?

was the encore "Monster Mash"?

#1 song in 1973 by the Edgar Winter Group.

quote:

was the encore "Monster Mash"?

I wish. Its a great song.
27th July 2006 05:15 PM
Saint Sway is this it?

"It Don't Come Easy" (Starr)
"What Goes On" (Starr)
"Honey Don't" (Starr)
"Everybody Wants You" (Squier)
"Free Ride" (Winter)
"Love Bizarre" (Sheila E.)
"Boys" (Starr)
"Don't Mean Nothing" (Marx)
"She's Not There" (Argent)
"Never Without You" (Starr)
"Yellow Submarine" (Starr)
"Fly Away" (Winter, solo)
"Rambling on My Mind"(Squier and Winter)
"Frankenstein" (instrumental)
"Choose Love" (Starr)
"Should Have Known Better" (Marx)
"Glamorous Life" (Sheila E.)
"I Wanna Be Your Man" (Starr)
"Rock Me Tonight" (Squier)
"Hold Your Head Up" (Argent)
"Act Naturally" (Starr)
"Memphis in Your Mind" (Starr)
"A Little Help From My Friends" (Starr)

Dude... seriously?? Thats abysmal. I'd rather hear a cheesy wedding band play Mustang Sally and Twist & Shout.

Christ, thats just awful. AWFUL!
27th July 2006 05:27 PM
glencar That you did NOT know about Frankenstein shows your immaturity. Your posts further that impression.
27th July 2006 06:08 PM
Saint Sway umm... how exactly does not knowing a song make someone immature?

I know you like to take shots at me glencar, but c'mon, thats stretching it a bit

#1 hit song and one of the most famous rock instrumentals ever. Yet you seem to be quite familiar with Richard Marx.

It's a well-known song from the 70's. You should have known it. You're like an up & coming tennis brat who only knwos of Andre Agassi & nothing before.
27th July 2006 06:34 PM
Your Cousin Lou Sounds like a pretty good show to me. I don't care too much for Richard Marx, but Ringo always puts on a good show from what I have heard & I respect the pop writing capabilities of his guest band members.
27th July 2006 06:35 PM
Your Cousin Lou Speaking of Rod Argent, I thought he was touring with Colin Blunstone again?

sorry but I'm still drawing a blank on that one. Maybe if I heard it...

Steel Wheels I think this is the first time I've ever read a messageboard war over anything having to do with Richard Marx!
28th July 2006 01:35 AM
Kilroy Edgar Winter , alone is worth the show, not to mention RINGO STARR, hello out there, Ringo. Get down off your cloud and smell mthe roses folks, I heart from alot of people it;s a great show. Ringo for real here. It's the music, maybe that's the problem.
