Jen D from Prague party for Jagger's 60th - BBC news

"Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger marked his 60th birthday on Saturday with an exclusive party in Prague.
Sir Mick was greeted by shouts of "Happy birthday" and "We love you" as crowds gathered outside the Duplex club in Wenceslas Square.

Guests included former Czech president Vaclav Havel who befriended the Stones during their first visit to the country in 1990.

Sir Mick had earlier spent the day in the city's Four Seasons Hotel, visiting the British embassy before heading to the party.
Its location was a closely-guarded secret - with reports the Stones had hired out three venues, before making a last-minute decision on which one to use..."

"...he marked his 60th birthday by holding a four-course, candlelit meal - served with a full-bodied Bordeaux from the year of his birth, 1943 - at the British ambassador's residence in Prague. Among guests were his 89-year-old father Joe, five of his children and two grandchildren, and his 6ft 4in girlfriend L'Wren Scott, an American fashion stylist. Their host, Anne Pringle, who has been ambassador in the Czech Republic for two years, kept a discreet presence.

Sir Mick's ex-wife, Jerry Hall, who is currently appearing in a production of The Graduate on Broadway, was unable to attend, as was his youngest child, Gabriel, five. Sir Mick was surrounded by close family, including his daughter from his first marriage to Bianca Jagger, Jade Jagger, the creative director of Garrard, the jewellers, and her daughters Assisi, 11, and Amba, seven. The party included his three eldest children from his marriage to Miss Hall: Elizabeth, a 19-year-old model, James, 17, and Georgia May, 11.

Karis Jagger, 33, his daughter by Marsha Hunt, also made a rare appearance. Ten close friends also joined the party, including the former Czech president Vaclav Havel, who first met the singer in 1990.
Sir Mick is understood to have chosen the embassy as his birthday venue because of the elegant decor and the landscaped English gardens, which are inaccessible to photographers.

The birthday bash was masterminded by Dora Lowenstein, the daughter of the Rolling Stones' long-standing financial adviser, Rupert Lowenstein, a London-based banker.
After dinner, he was chauffeur-driven from the elegant embassy buildings to the Duplex nightclub and casino in Wenceslas Square, in the city centre, where he was joined by a large party of his band members and crew from the Rolling Stones tour.

Sir Mick plans to celebrate his birthday on a grander scale in early September when he will host a London party for 300 people."

The birthday bash was masterminded by Dora Lowenstein, the daughter of the Rolling Stones' tour manager, Rupert Lowenstein, a London-based banker who has also been their chief financial adviser for 30 years. For the past few days she has been based in the Four Seasons Hotel in Prague with her assistant Miranda Howse, frantically ironing out any last-minute hitches.
Wines and food were imported from France, while flowers were brought in from some of the Czech Republic's finest florists.

While reinforcing the image of an informal family man, Jagger has not completely shed his rock and roll reputation. After dinner, he was expected to drop in at the rather more riotous environs of the Duplex nightclub in Wenceslas Square, to be joined by a large party of his band members and crew from the band."

Jen D Jagger at 60: ‘What a drag it is getting old’ - Sunday Herald

Sir Mick Jagger celebrated his 60th birthday in style last night at a private party in Prague.
Ahead of the band's sell-out performance to 60,000 at the Czech Republic's national stadium tonight, the Rolling Stones frontman became a sexagenarian at a celebration so secret even the guests were given little warning of the venue.

Local media had speculated that Jagger would celebrate at the British Embassy but the singer chose to keep them guessing, kicking off his party at the celebrated Four Seasons Hotel, near the historic Charles Bridge, instead.

The guest list was watertight, with only personal friends and family invited. Celebrity guests included former Boomtown Rat Bob Geldof, actor Matt Damon and maverick film director Terry Gilliam.
Even former Czech president Vaclav Havel, a friend of Jagger's and an invited guest, was in the dark until yesterday. "We will be told at the last minute," said Havel's aide Martin Vidlak earlier. "This is a private party under full control of Mick Jagger."

In the early hours of this morning, the celebration moved on to laid-back Prague nightclub Duplex a retro-styled venue overlooking the city's Wenceslas Square.
The club is known, among other things, for having a 1960s-era purple VW Beetle parked on a rooftop terrace eight floors above street level, which may have appealed to the star for its nostalgia value.

Jagger's Rolling Stones band members, Jerry Hall and members of the singer's family including his father and brother carried on the party on the club's terraces. Jagger arrived last, accompanied by a former girlfriend, the model Luciana Morad.

Although the party venue was kept secret, word of Havel's birthday present to Jagger was leaked to the press a two-feet-high crystal vase by Havel's favourite artist, Borek Sipek. The Blesk newspaper, which published a photograph of the vase, said it was intended to embody Jagger's "far-flung image and perhaps even his soul, torn to pieces"..."
