mattb Has anyone bought a new VCR lately? Mine died and I need a recommendation as to a good model. Thanks.

jb Stick with Sony or JVC...a little more than others , but VCR's are so inexpensive these days as DVD is/will become the predominant media ...You may just want to get a DVD instead...a really good one costs around 500.00, but plenty decent ones at 200.00 range....

mattb Thanks for the input. I'm not interested in a DVD until the price of the recordables comes down. And I want to be able to tape and view now. My old VCR died in forward play and record. I saw a Toshiba for 59 bucks that I thought would be okay - but then saw some mixed reviews on an opinion site. I may go with the Sony for a little more.
