egon will he again get local musicians to play with him,
or is it gonna be a propper band this time?
07-24-03 11:28 AM
steel driving hammer Who knows, but at least we'll get the Riffs.

I hope he makes this one great since he prolly knows it's his last time.

07-24-03 11:29 AM
egon i like it how they call it a "world tour".

america, france & japan!
07-24-03 11:40 AM
steel driving hammer Better than calling it the "Chuck Berry American, European and Japanesse Tour."

But maybe Keith will guest appear on a show or two?
07-24-03 11:48 AM
egon i'd pay to see that!

btw; is "hail hail rock n roll" available on dvd?

fantastic film/docu/concert!
07-24-03 12:33 PM
jb He is one ungrateful, nasty prick!
07-24-03 01:41 PM
Sir Stonesalot I might go see Chuck. If he was playing in my basement. And I didn't have to take off work. And I didn't have to pay. And I didn't have a golf game lined up. And he wasn't going to be anywhere near my wife.

Sorry, but Chuck has already burned me once. I'll not be giving him a second chance.
07-24-03 01:52 PM
Factory Girl SS, how did Chuck burn you?
07-24-03 02:30 PM
Sir Stonesalot Rent the Rock N Roll HOF Concert....you'll see.

yes steelie but there's be no guarantee they'd be in tune or even in the same key as the rest of the band

chuck is amazing - i know of no other artist who has such little respect for his audience or his own talent...he's probably just (if not more so) as proud of "my ding - a - ling" as he is of "let it rock" simply because it made him more money

i now what SS means - 'tho when i saw chuck (30 years ago now)i was lucky - by the time they got to adelaide his pick-up band (who weren't that bad as it happened) couldn't take playing with him anymore because he simply refused to tune his guitar - the story goes that before the gig i saw they snuck into his dressing room when he wasn't around and tuned the thing up

he's one weird dude, as his "legal problems" of the late '80's amply illustrated
07-24-03 05:44 PM
Moonisup i saw him in Holland 3 years ago,

and it was a very good concert, he was very friendly towards his (local) backing band, even when he had troubles with his amp.
he was better then jerry Lee lewis and Litte richard
07-24-03 05:45 PM
steel driving hammer I know what you mean SIA.

Isn't Chuck almost 80 years old now? LOL.

I have the same feeling as you.

It's gonna be interesting! LOL.
07-24-03 05:54 PM
stonedinaustralia yes steelie, if he came here again i'd go see him even 'tho (or perhaps because) the thing might end up as complete disaster

as moonisup said - he saw him three years ago and he was ok but from what i understand it's a real lottery and the next night could have been completely diabolical

i think he's about 75 now - from memory he was 60 (which age keith is now approaching) when he did the "hail hail rock n roll" thing with keith in '88

4 dates in France and 5 in Tokyo can hardly be considered "European" or "Japanese" tours...

Well he 'IS' touring there right? So it 'IS' a tour, LOL.

Come on sing it w/ me,

You Can't Always Get What You Want..........................
07-24-03 06:37 PM
Sir Stonesalot SIA has a point...I think I WOULD go see him, just to see how bad he could be.

Sometimes bad is good.
07-24-03 06:45 PM
stonedinaustralia yes SS

it's bit like the fact that people can't take their eyes off a car crash
07-24-03 10:49 PM
JaggaRichards I wonder how many times he'll violate the Mann Act on this 'tour'?
07-25-03 03:40 AM
parmeda Gosh Steelie...no Chicago dates?
Ha! I am not surprised, lol...

But please, if you haven't had the chance to see Chuck before...see him now if you can. No matter how much of an ass he's turned out to be, it's still one of those "Oh damn, I should have..." things.

sonicrock saw hi m in paris 03/07/ one word, or two
FUCK YES !!!!!

laurent Hi there
Went to see Chuck in Paris on July rd. Great show even though he only played more than a hour, well he's more than 75 now. He played all of his hits of course. The audience went a little bit crazy as he came on stage, everybody has to remain seating. Security came on fos to ask people who had rushed to to the stage to go back to their seat as people on the front rows were complaining. Even Chuck has to tell the audience to go back to their seat, not really Rock' Roll isn't it? Anyway the show really rock, Chuck invited ,as usual, a few female on stage near the end of the set, after that everybody went crazy again and people were not rushing the front of stage but ON THE STAGE, that was awsome, more than a 100 people ON stage as Chuck was there playing just in front of us standing up on the drum riser protected by 6-7 security guards. Believe me great show and now i can tell: I was on stage with Chuck Berry.

We wanted to meet him after the show but he had already left, he was furious someone had stole him his baseball(navy?) cap ,that was on the drum riser ,during the show.
