Topic: Elton John to write a song for Jade Return to archive

Jaxx THIS IS YOUR SONG

JADE JAGGER is doing more for Garrard than just increasing sales by designing hip and seriously desirable jewellery.

The glossy-haired hippy chick found herself sitting next to Lawrence Stroll, business partner of Tommy Hilfiger and a long-time friend of the Jagger family, at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara ball earlier this month. When the auction began, a lot came up which involved inspiring Elton to write and record a song. As the bidding reached 100,000, Stroll stood up with both hands in the air and proclaimed, "I will give you 150,000 to write and produce a song for the opening of this girl's shop, Garrard!" As Jade giggled coyly, the auctioneer excused himself from the stage to check with the host whether he would accept the challenge. And as Elton nodded his approval, the celebrity-heavy crowd roared theirs. "Lawrence Stroll bid for the lot spontaneously. As far as I know it wasn't something he and Jade had discussed beforehand," says a rep for Garrard, which will open in Mayfair in September. "He gave them a cheque on the night and we are currently negotiating the project, but I can't give any details of it yet."
