mattb I heard this yesterday for the first time. It sounded like there was a couple lines not in the original. Something about girls on trolleycars?
07-18-02 03:39 PM
MidnightRambler Describing it in one word: SUCKS.

It's JUST Mick's vocal! Where's the STONES? They completely took away the main riff to the song! I agree--musically it just sucks. The whole thing is just horrible, not even close to the original. At first I thought they were just going to add just a heavy bass drum to the existing beat and that's it----the orignal could still survive in today's music--but they totally screwed it up.

Shame, Shame, Shame...

Mr T wow, I just heard that - what a piece of shit...

winter Wintafucious say:

I heard that the Stones are planning to open with a 17 min version of the Dr. Dre remix with Britney Spear's back up dancers for all shows (including the theaters/clubs). At the Stadiums/Arenas, they will also do a 12 minute version of the Harlem Shuffle as the only b-stage song (Dave Matthews (with a shit eating grin and while clicking his heels like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz) will sing the chorus at select shows), and grown men dressed like the cartoon cats from the video will be dancing around them.

Finally, the only encore will be Britney's version of Satisfaction, lip-synched of course.

Ya moooove it the left, yeah, go for yourself,

Oh this is going to be great!!!!!

The Eggman If you guys weren't old enough to apreciate going into clubs and hearing this, its quite the thrill
I mean any Stones song in a club in this present day is just great!

Peace out!

winter Hey eggman:

I was just kidding, I haven't even heard the Dr. Dre remix yet. BTW, there are a couple of clubs in Beantown that do play stones songs. Whiskey park often plays a funked up version of Miss You, and West Street often plays Fingerprint File and Hot Stuff. Whiskey Park also has very cool Annie Liebowitz (sp?) photos on the walls - Hendrix, Dylan, 2 of Mick (laundry shirt and sitting with a bottle of jack) and 1 Keith (outside the Stones jet). Many others as well.

Also, I agree with whoever said tha Might as Well Get Juiced could have been a great club hit if marketed properly (i think it was Gazza). I actually like the tune. I've played it for a few non-Stones fan friends, and it seems to have universal appeal (other than to most stones fans). I feel the same way about the Bill Withers cover by Lenny and Mick from Wandering Spirit - Use Me - poorly marketed, should have been a huge hit.

Finally, anyone know if the Dr. Dre remix is actually worked into the Austin Powers movie, or is it just on the soundtrack?

The movie comes out on Mick's b-day,

You moooove it to right, yeah if it takes all night,

The Eggman No no Wintah it wasn't an attack either

Iam just young enuff just to be impressed in any of my fav stones stuff comes on in any popular nite club.

A fucked up version of Miss You?...I'd like to hear!
07-19-02 10:22 AM
egon i'm still young enough and still go to clubs.
but if it's a choice between the dr dre version or no stones
at all, i'll go for 'no stones at all'.

even in it's genre it's a piece of shit.

mr dre did fuck the song up, and i hope he'll burn in hell for it.(or at least have no more nr 1 hits for the next 2 years or so.)

i pray that this will not be put out as a single, cos than we will have to listen to it all day long...
(as it's shit, i'm sure it will be a hit)

i'm sorry, but i'm just mad.
(i'm just happy i never heard britney's version of satisfaction..)

anyway, nice weekend to you all.

Sir Stonesalot I was fully prepared to get violent when I was gonna give Brittany's Satisfaction a listen....but I didn't get violent at all....I was too busy laughing hysterically. It's so bad that it's high art! I mean, it's so ridiculous that it simply can't be taken seriously at all...it's just a really funny joke.

I'm getting the giggles just thinking about it. (You'll know why I chose the word "giggles" if you ever listen to the thing.)

The Eggman My good friend, the ex- Cardinal, you must agree hearing Satisfaction by Devo was kinda cool, hearing it in CASINO was also fun

Mathijs Why don't you all just be fucking happy to hear Mick's voice when he was in his prime, when his voice was still strong, when the Stones still mattered. Be glad Dr. Dre isn't so appalled by the name "Mick Jagger" after hearing "Goddes in the Doorway" that he didn't run away scared when asked to remix Miss You. For all you guys who are too old to even go to clubs: Dr. Dre matters in todays society and entertainment bussiness, the Stones don't. We should be happy that at least SOMETHING of the greatest R&R band of the 60's and 70's gets some airplay today.

Mathijs

Mother baby Mick is still in his "prime"...what the fuck are you talking about?
07-21-02 08:02 PM
thief in the night Come on Mathijs.
Get off your damn soap box.
The Stones still matter, as does anyone else, if they matter to us as individuals. And I guarantee, though I won't be among the multitudes, they're going to matter when they go out in September.
And they get enough airplay if you go to the right place.
By the way, right on Mother baby
