If that one doesn't go to the Stones, the whole system is fucked.
Tech direction, camerawork...
Following Mick is like following a tennis ball.
Cher is nominated for that? All the cameras had to do was set up a Tripod and take 2 hours off, come back and there's the shot! |

Moonisup |
why not for "best live act"
or for Best oldies act |
|
TheSavageYoungXyzzy |
Well, better not win for Chuck-The-Fuck-Up-In-Suck Sound Mixing.
-tSYX --- "Sympathy For The Devil" is not a tiki-bar sing-along, Ronnie! |
|
Sir Stonesalot |
My prediction.
The Rolling Stones will go 0-4.
Just like Corky Sosa against Randy Wolf.
Forget it. No one is gonna give the Stones any kind of award.
Why?
Because award shows are extremely stupid.
Do the Stones DESERVE an Emmy? Fuck yeah. Will they get one, no. |
|
Moonisup |
they got their life time achievement in I think 1986, LOL, wayyyyyy to early,
well, what's more important, some light or some stones??????
|
|
gotdablouse |
Yeah for once ;-) I agree with the TSYX...that f#$*#(* honky tonk piano EVERYWHERE in the mix is a scandal.
In fact, it should disqualify them from getting any kind of award. Shame on Mick and Keith for tolerating that crappy guy and his crappy honky tonk piano. |
|
TheSavageYoungXyzzy |
Naw, blouse, from what I hear he's a really nice guy and all, but I don't think he realizes:
A) How fucking high his piano is turned up and
B) How fucking incompatible that clunky reverby fake sound is with the band.
If someone were to educate him on this, there might be peace in our time.
Rik, as official Wooden Shoe and Shaked Hands With Chuck along with Bearer Of The Beard Pic, I appoint you official Chuck Teller. Now get out there and confront that bearded menace!
Nicely!
And tell him to shave!
-tSYX --- Ooooooo, and it's got me movin'... |

And the Emmy award for best use of shitty 70's era "freak-out" effects during a live performance goes to.......HBO! |
|
FPM C10 |
Undoubtedly, the Stone' remarkable forty-year run has been aimed at one goal: Emmy awards!
It's not exactly Dylan getting an Oscar - and THAT was weird enough! (Bob takes it on the road and puts it on his amp.) I do not really think of the Stones as TV entertainers, except when they were on Ready Steady Go lipsyching "I Got You Babe" in 1965. I don't think adding an Emmy for "Best Weird Camera Angle" to the pile will add much to the legend. And I'm betting one dirty dollar that they don't go to the award show.
I'm voting for Cher. |
|
stonedinaustralia |
well, i don't want to rain on anybody's parade and on a similiar line to FPM's comment it doesn't look the stones have been nominated for any awards rather their production crew...talk abot basking in reflected glory (and that wisdom cuts both ways)!!
BTW, and EMI (excuse my ignorance) what did bob get his oscar for...whatever it was,it couldn't have gone to a nicer guy... |
|
Sir Stonesalot |
Didn't Bob get the Oscar for "Things Have Changed"? I forget what movie it was in.
3 of the 4 nominations are for production, but the other one is for best comedy, variety, or music special. Cher will win. |

Who needs emmys anyway? |
|

SS is absolutely correct..Cher, undoubtedly, will win hands down...while I don't like her music, I do like her...she is quite hot at 50 plus and her collagen injected lips are perfect for blow-jobs. |

"Wonder Boys".
Good for Bob, though you're right of course, Bob's career is to winning Oscars what the Stones's is to winning Emmy's. I didn't see his speech, it was past my bedtime - was he even there? Did he do the "One Too Many Mornings" routine?
-tSYX --- Well I was fretterininoamuimulblimlin, and I wbal talkin brablin to mah rablititn blah blah blah blah blah if you all wouldn't clap so hard... |

Joey |
" Is Max still dead? "
No , he has been sent down to the minor leagues due to poor posting .
If his performance level keeps up he probably will be released at the end of the year .

"Ohh, look at that one go! That Savage Young Unpronouncable's sure got a mean streak in him, Bob!"
"Yeah, but everyone complains about the randomness factor in his posting and hitting, probably keeps him from the sports page."
"Hey, in Boston, the kid could probably make the front page of the *regular* news. And you think he's random now, wait 'till he starts drinking!"
"I'm digging out my McCartney LPs now, Jim!"
-tSYX --- No they don't, they don't, they don't, they don't make 'em anymore! |
