Ten Thousand Motels Baltimore to Host U.S. Virgin Festival

The Who and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to headline the U.S. version of Britain’s V Festival.

The one-day festival will take place on September 23 at Baltimore’s prestigious Pimlico Racecourse. Tickets go on sale July 22. General admission tickets will cost $97.50. This is the first time the successful U.K. festival will take place on American soil. The Baltimore bill will be organized by Virgin Mobile.

That’s right — Virgin Mobile. Now it’s obvious that we live in an increasingly commercial and corporate age but is nothing safe from the heinous clutches of Sir Richard Branson, Virgin’s billionaire big shot and bearded buffoon? What happened to the freewheeling festival spirit? Is nothing sacred?

Still, you have to admit, he’s considerably hipper than the likes of Bill Gates, not nearly as unashamedly evil as Monty Burns and a damned sight less obnoxious (and with much better hair) than the freak of nature that is Donald Trump. And his taste in music’s not half bad either. Check out the following for a taster of the day’s events.

The Who, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Raconteurs, the Flaming Lips, Scissor Sisters, Gnarls Barkley, Drive-By Truckers, New Pornographers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Wolfmother, 2 Many DJs, RJD2 and the Killers.

I don't think they are bringing the whole band, so I am only guessing they are in a tent.

GotToRollMe Oh shit, I thought this was a thread about a festival for U.S. virgins. Must be that Vicodin the doc gave me after he pulled my tooth today. I think I'm overdue for a nap.

glencar In my job as an air traffic controller, I give pilots some instruction on whom to follow for a visual approach. Nothing is more fun than telling them to "follow the heavy Virgin"!
