Stars join forces to help disabled Albanian girl
Three rock stars are releasing a single to help fund an operation for an Albanian girl confined to a wheelchair after suffering horrific burns.
The Who drummer Kenney Jones, Paul Young and Ronnie Wood are recording It's All About the Children in aid of a charity which wants to being Arta Gjini to Britain for surgery.
The Somerset-based Small Faces All Children Charitbale Trust is heading the campaign.
Austrian Airlines has already flown Arta to England for free and doctors are donating their services if the money can be found to bring her from Albania again for a month.
The Daily Express reports the cost is estimated at 20,000. It says the surgery she needs to let her walk again is not available in Albania.
She suffered burns to both legs when they were covered in boiling oil during a kitchen fire at her home.
Kenney said: "We've seen the pictures of Arta. With injuries like that you can't help but have your heartstrings pulled.
"Children all over the world are suffering needlessly and it's nuts. We support the campaign to get Arta over here and get her sorted."
Alan Kaye, a plastic surgeon at Bristol's Frenchay Hospital, is confident he can restore her mobility.
The single will be released on July 22.
