Ten Thousand Motels BRITS FAIL TO RECOGNISE LENNON

British music-lovers have exposed their ignorance in a staggering new poll - which shows more people recognise Christian crooner SIR CLIFF RICHARD than iconic former BEATLE JOHN LENNON.

A shocking 56 per cent of people involved in the survey, conducted by British newspaper The Observer, were unable to identify the IMAGINE star.

But fans had no problem naming former SPICE GIRL GERI HALLIWELL and gay singer BOY GEORGE.

One of the most recognisable bands was 1980s outfit WHAM! - with 46 per cent immediately picking out GEORGE MICHAEL and his lesser-known bandmate ANDREW RIDGELEY.

Gazza We are now a nation of Beatles-haters.

Official.

Even as a fan of the band, I'm somewhat proud of this development.

Popular huh? Well, Boy George/Culture Club weren't all that big in the States. But If I'm not mistaken he was huge in Britain.

They had a string of 8 Top 10 hits in UK between 1982-1986 and a later big hit in 1998.
