Gazza they might be, but I guarantee you that if anyone takes anything "official" from the band's website and uploads it, their lawyers will be down on us like a ton of bricks.

June 4th, 2005 06:32 AM
KeithRichards Yeah, I thought that it could cause legal problems...
I'll not upload them

Gazza Cheers

rs1973-09-03.flac

Rolling Stones
8th September 1973 (1st Show)
Empire Pool, Wembley, London
"Timeless '73" (VGP-373)

AUD > ? > Silver CD > EAC (secure mode, offsets corrected) > WAV > FLAC Frontend > FLAC (Level 8, SBE aligned)

1. Brown Sugar
2. Gimme Shelter
3. Happy
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Star Star
6. Angie
7. You Can't Always Get What You Want
8. Dancing With Mr. D.
9. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
10. Midnight Rambler
11. Honky Tonk Women
12. All Down The Line
13. Rip This Joint
14. Jumpin' Jack Flash
15. Street Fighting Man

This is a very clear audience recording for the time. Like all the Stones' London 1973 shows, the performance is incredible - among their finest ever IMHO. It's the same recording as Bad Wizard's "Empire Pool" that was torrented on STG, but without the digital errors that were on that copy. Unlike the Bad Wizard release, VGP have spliced Gimme Shelter together with an older, inferior source (The Shaved Disc's "London '73") to give the complete song. Also, don't confuse this with "Timeless: Europe '73", which is Sister Morphine's release of the Brussels and London '73 soundboards.

mac_daddy seriously, who started garden state 78..?

i am making a guess, but here is what i think is happening...

you have pointed your client to the wrong dir (i did this, too, when i first started seeding)...

with most clients, you pick the dir above the fileset dir...

for example if rs1978-garden_state.shnf was located at d:\shn\rs1978-garden_state.shnf\ i wold point my client to d:\shn\ and (and NOT d:\shn\rs1978-garden_state.shnf\)...

i hope this helps get you started - i am force connected as a peer, so when you get the seed up, i should automatically connect to you...

and thanks, whoever you are, for the generosity and the effort. please remember that the first torrent upload/seed is always the most difficult... the next time you do this, it will be easy, as it will be old hat to you...

cheers!

no inconvenience, i will make sure this thing is seeded in your absence, provided i finish the download. otherwise, we all simply have to wait for your return. no problems whatsoever - your efforts are very much appreciated...

thank you (again) for this - these dog and cat records (the two i have heard sofar) are quite impressive as far as sound quality goes...

out of curiosity, what did you do differently to start seeding..?
June 5th, 2005 12:40 PM
Pauli When I starting to seed the torrent my client (Azureus) asked place of the torrent file. That was easy (of course), but then the Azureus asked where I would like to save the files. I entered the place (directory) where I usually place my the files I download. That was error. I should enter the directory which contain the torrent file and subdirectory for all the necessary files (*.flac,*.jpg,*.md5...).

I hope you get sense of that and I hope it will help

2000 Man I think I upped Lonely At the Top. Azureus says it's happy, and I just wanted to try something smallish for my first torrent. It's good stuff, from the original TSP silver disk.

MacDaddy, how can you tell if it works?
June 5th, 2005 02:27 PM
mac_daddy it looks like you are doing what the others did at first, conecting as a peer, rather than a seed...

but the *.torrent file uploaded properly - you are just not conneceted as a seed...

you dont have to use azureus - you can use any bit torrent client you want, and seed like normal (if that helps)...

also - do you have any more specific information regarding the contents and lineage of "lonely at the top?"

thanks for the effort.
June 5th, 2005 02:35 PM
Pauli i appreciate if you can help with my torrent. Please don't stop seeding after you have got 100% for yourself!!!

I thought that looked funny. I'll keep poking at it. I have the source in a text file in the torrent. I'll get it right! Thanks for the help.

btw...

if any of you are using azureus, and are having a hard time seeding, connecting, etc. then you might want to visit the aureus homepage, and specifically check the user's guide and the frequently asked questions...

June 5th, 2005 05:55 PM
mac_daddy well, 2000 man - looks like you figured it out...

thanks again for sharing.

if you wouldnt mind, could you please post what you did to get it running, to help others who might run into the same difficulty you did..?

thanks again.

2000 Man Well, MacDaddy, thanks for all the help!

Wanna know how a computer "cheater" does it? Open the damned thing in Torrentstorm after creating everything in Azureus. It was that easy. I'll keep at it with Azureus, though. I don't like not knowing exactly what I'm doing. Anyway, is there an announcement page yet? Here's what I have in the torrent:

This is The Swingin' Pig's Lonely At the Top bootleg direct from silver CD TSP-CD-199. Song sources follow:

End of status report

That's all I should need for this, right? It's just from a silver bootleg, and I don't know the lineage other than what I have here. I'll work on something else. I've got tons of stuff. Now that I look at it, I think I might need to check EAC's offsets - it looks like it lost the setting.

mac_daddy right on!

that ain't cheating. like i said, there is no reason for anybody to use azureus if they already can connect and seed with something else.

thanks for the tip.

and many thanks for the seed!

edit:

i see that the crc test and check sums all match - that is the very good sign that everything is OK. if you need help setting up eac, i know there is alot of documentation, not just in the program itself, but at the website, too >>

charlotte The Rolling Stones
The Coliseum, Charlotte, NC, July 06, 1972

Source: audience recording

Gen: master reel > DAT > CDR(3) > wav (EAC, secure mode) > flac (FLAC Frontend, level 8)

Setlist:
1. Bitch (cuts in)
2. Rocks Off
3. Gimme Shelter
4. Happy
5. Tumbling Dice
6. Love In Vain
7. Sweet Virginia
8. You Canīt Always Get What You Want
9. All Down The Line
10. Midnight Rambler/Band Introductions (cuts in)
11. Bye Bye Johnny
12. Rip This Joint
13. Jumpinī Jack Flash
14. Street Fighting Man

Length: 65:48 (379MB)

Notes:
This sounds significantly better than VGPīs "Bring It Back Alive" CD.
Also available on the newer VGP "Drippinī Honey" release which sounds more or less similar but -as usual with Japanese bootleg releases- is unnecessarily equalized and also running a tad slow. This lowgen is the best version of this recording.
The missing parts of the show (Brown Sugar, the first part of Bitch and the beginning of Midnight Rambler) were not recorded.
By the way this is a killer performance and one of the best sounding early 70s recordings I have ever heard.

2000 Man I'm not too worried about my offsets - it just seems that every now and then for whatever reason EAC decides I want to use the Read/Write setting, and I don't do that. It's back to where I usually do it (+120 for that drive), but like I said, one day I'll rip something and notice it reverted back. It happens about once a year.

I put a post up on Gasland and RSboots. I've got that Dallas 72 rehearsal Pauli asked for, I can rip and compress that next, but let's give this a little time and get some other seeds first!
