Well actually to be honest I never thought the title of "rough boys" was much of anything.
However, my eye-brows were raised when I seen the title "real good looking boy". ESPECIALLY after the recent controversy. Yikes.
Then when I heard the song and the first lines blurted out "now that's a real good lookin boy" I thought what the hell is the guy trying to do here. Condemn himself? I still think it is far too risky of a title AND concept for him. No he isn't talking about an eight year old. But it is REAL obvious, the guy likes younger men.
Geeze he doesn't hide it. He is singing about it again. Sure it is a comparison on his looks and how he should of never made it but still....the opinion, and message is there.
Who wrote "pictures of Lily"? that is about masterbation. However Lily is a womans name. Is Petey Bi?

Pete was investigated because he accessed child pornography sites. He claimed it was in the name of "research" for a book he was writing. Ask yourself this. What kind of research warrants looking at sick images? There is something very sinister about Townsend that I really don't like. However, I'm someone who has learnt to separate his great work with The Who and his personal life. |

It has nothing to with being gay, Ian. Bill Wyman was/is into younger girls, no? Do you have the same reaction to him?
Pete has been nothing but up front and honest - which sort of got him into that mess. You also don't know what it's like to be a survivor of abuse. Part of therapy is reliving the stuff and doing research and putting the pieces of your past together to see how it has been a part of your personal narrative and patterns.
Maxy is right - Pete thinks too much. Actually - no he doesn't - but he lives in a world where most people don't.
