Oh little enemy,
I cannot fight with you,
My mommy said not too
Boo hoo hoo hoo
I can't scratch your eyes out
And make you bleed to death
But we'll be jolly enemies
Forever evermore.

Yes, I remember this. When I bought my ticket to Fenway 1 on Ticketmaster.com, the "Instant Live" logo appeared on the confirmation page. The only reason one would conclude that it was there was that they were going to offer the shows up on CD afterwards. KISS did it on their last tour and when purchasing tix, the "Instant Live" logo appeared on the confirmation page. So.... assumption made... but apparently wrong in the case of the Stones tour.
PS - "Live Licks" SUCKS! |

Thats exactly what it was, Jerry. I thought I was imagining things, because no one else seems to mention it! I even think there was something on the confirmation page where the buyer was acknowledging some kind of rights to having the shows recorded. |

Well I don't recall the "rights" part, Gazza. But I can tell you that in hanging out at Fenway in the days leading up to the shows and on the day of the first show, I walked my stupid ass all around the ballpark looking for those damned Instant Live vans and of course found none. LOL Hey, I still had hope.
But all was not lost; I got to see Charlie, Ronnie, and Keith arrive up close and heard the band do rehearsals so the magic wasn't spoilt by the Instant SB discs not being offered. |

The audio rip from the Saitama DVD is the best live CD you will get and better than anything official since YaYas. |

It's really that good? I just ordered the DVD this week! Now I'm really looking forward to seeing/hearing it. |

Right on! This boot seriously satisfied my bootleg jones. I have watched it dozens of times and hardly traded or participated in any vines. A decent performance thats perfectly mixed and edited. Its also the best DVD period that gives Charlie his due and brings forth his talents as a drummer.
I wont buy any live CD just like I didn't buy Live Licks. |

My sentiments exactly! If the Stones want to release live stuff, they might as well release this one. It hasn't left my CD player in over a week.
P.S. I don't know what it is about the Japanese, but they consistently record some of the best boots around. Thanks Mr. Sony, Mr. Fuji...

Remember seeing something about Instant Live.
Maybe it was just someone's wishful thinking.
Instant Live recordings can be picked up at the venue, literally minutes after the show ends.
No chance to polish a turd, which might've scared off some in the Stones camp. |

Okay, hold on a minute. Everyone on here has bashed my statement as Live Licks being their best live album. I said that based on the tracks that were used on disc2. Neighbours, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Nearness of You, Worried About You. These, though edited, which is true with every stones live lp so you have to factor it in every time, are never seen on any previous live album and sound great here. "No Security" was close behind. Flashpoint is full of bad 80s sounds and most of the others consist of Mick's drunk ass trying to remember the lyrics and halfway sing. They sound weak. Stripped, No Security, and Live Licks are documentations of the band in top form, playing a variety of hits and hidden gems and covers. The Stones, contrary to popular belief on this site, have really kicked ass on this tour. My best friend saw the show in Charlottesville, VA (bomb delay) and said that even with the 40 mins delay, and no Keith songs, it was the best show he has EVER seen. They sound edgier and are playing a pretty diverse list. I'd love to hear the old ones as they've been played on tour and the rarely played/cover tunes as well. If they could somehow refrain from editing and cutting and blah, blah.... this would be a fantastic, possible finale for the Stones live career. The Rio megashow is deserving of a DVD (yes, another one). THE FLOOR IS YOURS....

Thank god for bootlegs, b/c the live stuff is really studio IMO! |

These are all interesting and progressive thoughts...more bands should make their live shows available...
I found out, quite by chance, the other day..the DEPECHE MODE has all their current tour available to purchase (download OR CD)...even in advance...all for about 12 bucks...21 Pounds...
At "The Dead" shows a few years back...you could purchase the very show you were presently attending...and it would be sent to you in a matter of weeks...made to order and with minimal overstock...ruducing so many costs...this pretty radical thinking even 2-3 years ago. In 2-3 years, it will be the norm.

1. I was sent Live Licks without asking for it. I listened to it once to hear if the edit on RO was as bad as everyone said it was. It was. I've never listened to it again, though I watch Four Flicks often.
2. Where I live, pirate copies are on the shelves. Some have the girl with the bra, others with the tits. Because I love tits, I consider buying that copy. But then I figure, in spite of it only costing four bucks, it's only a screen capture of a cartoon chick's tits. Thai porn is a much better investment, believe me.
3. I don't think a new live Stones album could ever be "bad." Pointless is the word. Live Licks is worth the money for Nearness of You alone for people who don't collect bootlegs.
4. JB is wrong again when he says there hasn't been a great Stones show since 73. Fall 73 is my favorite tour too, and the best live music ever made by any group (largely due to the rest of the group trying to keep up with Taylor), but The Handsome Girls shows and Hartford or Seattle 81 are also great Stones shows. Tokyo 90 also threatens to be great at times. |

i think the almost universal gripe with LL is its pointlessness and its editing (not the fact that it was edited at all, more that it was done in such an amateurish fashion). The performances are fine, but when you own the DVD, you DONT need a live album of the SAME FUCKING RECORDINGS a year later. I note that in comparing it favourably to other live albums, you've omitted Ya Ya's however.
I agree with you that Rio is deserving of a DVD - or some show is. They should do that from every tour, and maybe sometime they'll do a FULL show on DVD. A live album from the tour as well however? No fucking way. Its pointless
quote: The Stones, contrary to popular belief on this site, have really kicked ass on this tour.
I dont think that statement is 'contrary to popular belief' at all to be honest.

I'm sure much of that is true, but we'll agree to differ on the 'pretty diverse list' statement. 'Pretty diverse list' of what - songs from 40 Licks? If you go to see the Stones on this tour, the only 2 albums you need to know are 40 Licks and A Bigger Bang.
