Honky Tonk Man What a great idea this was. I hope the Stones bring it back for the 2002/2003 tour. Did the chosen songs vary much?, or was there like 5 or 6 songs the fans chose every time?

T&A It got to be a farce after awhile. It became pretty evident that someone (the Stones) were manipulating the system and "calling the shots."

Honky Tonk Man Well what your saying makes sense. I mean from what ive seen from footage of it, mick looks on the screen to see what the song is, they then play it. I mean, what if it wasa song they were not used to playing, what if the guitars were not tuned in for the right song?

scope That's exactly why it was a scam. You could check during the day to see which song was leading, and more times than not, by the time they checked at the show, a dfferent song was suddenly the winner.

Well it wasnt quite that big a problem because there was only a list of about 15-20 songs or so that were listed for the cybervote (all of which obviously they'd rehearsed of course),its not like it was their entire catalogue and they were gonna end up playing "Gomper" or anything.
The band would generally know just before the show what song was ahead - the vote would close around that time.

It worked fine for the early part of the tour (1997),although they did occasionally manipulate or suspend it for TV purposes etc...more so in 1998 when the tour got to Europe..(I think in Amsterdam for example they didnt use it on some occasions - but that might be explained by the fact that they were recording the five shows for the live album and were trying out other less-played songs instead) Occasionally there would be no cybervote song or once in a while the winning song would NOT be the one that was easily winning earlier that day. Towards the end of the tour it got simply farcical because some people were trying to sabotage the vote by spamming it with their favourite choices.

nanky Alls I know is it/they picked No Expectations in Atlanta and nailed it. I think it was the only time they played it during the tour. That was a really good show, although I scared a few people sitting near me.

On June 16, 2001 the hit counter of the WET page was inserted here, it had 174,489 hits. Now the hit counter is for both the page and the board. The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
