Monkey Woman On this day, 43 years ago, the Stones gave their first gig as a band!

From RS.com:

"July 12th, 1962
Blues Incorporated gets their big break - a performance on BBC national radio. The BBC would only pay for five musicians, so Mick was surfeit to requirements. The booking also meant that Alexis Korner and his band couldn't play their regular residency at the Marquee Club. Long John Baldry was given the headline spot to replace Blues Incorporated and The Rolling Stones came in as support. The Stones -- Mick, Keith, Brian, Ian, and Dick -- play their first gig with Mick Avory stepping in as temporary drummer. The Stones made an impression as they play the venue on a couple more occasions later in the year."

The discreet beginning of an awesome career...

Soldatti 43 years and here we are, talking about $453 dollars tours. I'm wondering how much money the people paid that night, 43 years ago, if they paid something.

stonedinaustralia it's so good that the pic. which is today's header has survived - really brings it home as to how much water has gone under the bridge since then - it's been said before but the girl dancing to the left sure looks a lot like mick
