22:00 The Critical List: A Buyer's Guide
1/6. Each Saturday night for the past couple of years Stuart has drawn on his vast experience as a journalist and author, to introduce music fans to rock and pop which they might otherwise have overlooked. Using the device of a weekly theme, he has covered the most comprehensive range of genres from Prog Rock to Americana, the one common denominator being quality.

Now, in the Critical List:A Buyers Guide, Stuart will have the opportunity to narrow his focus, concentrating on one major artist or band per programme, and recommending their essential recordings. He will hope to ease the confusion felt by the uninitiated when faced with the enormous catalogues of artists like Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Bob Dylan, Aretha franklin, and so on. The CD revolution kick started a massive reissue culture which has continued unabated providing each new generation with a bewildering choice. Stuart will now lead them through the maze, so that only the finest nuggets make it on to their record shelves.

Stuart starts with the Rolling Stones, the self styled 'greatest Rock n Roll band in the world' whose achievements justify that boast. No recording career is more vast or more in need of a tour guide than the band who achieved their tenth number one album, Voodoo Lounge, in 1994, thirty years after their first, simply titled The Rolling Stones. Along the way they've garnered a further twenty top five albums, some of which may also be marked on Stuart's chart as he plots a course through their staggering output.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully some of the listeners tuning in might go out and buy some of the band's other albums in time for the upcoming shows and the band might not feel so obliged to play so many 'hits' !!
